Noise Gate Audio (and Noise Gate Studios) was founded by myself, Ross McAfee. Growing up as a youth in 'Middle of Nowhere' South Texas, I probably wouldn't have made it through if not for the music of Nirvana and later others. If Kurt Cobain could write such emotionally charged songs, perhaps I could. I picked up a guitar at 14 and began my never-ending journey into musical discovery. At 18, I moved to Colorado, joined the band, Dr. Neptune and quickly became one of the core songwriters for the band and helped bring the band to its status as a premier Colorado punk rock band. During this time, I decided to further expand my music education through the Music Industry Studies program at CU-Denver. Still driving Dr. Neptune to enjoy some mild national success - selling 3,000 copies of our E.P. that I recorded and co-produced, and 2 national tours on the Vans Warped Tour. After graduating from CU-Denver with a dual-emphasis BS in Audio Engineering and Music Business, I decided to continue my 'real world' music education - tour managing and sound engineering for the newly signed Warner Brothers band, SINGLE FILE;working for Sony (Epic) recording artist, THE FRAY; or running live sound and production for the Vans Warped Tour's ERNIE BALL STAGE. I now have the opportunity to share with other artists the skills I have developed through working with so many artists within the Colorado music community and nationally. I'm excited about continuing my dedication to music and the music scene through music creation and production at Noise Gate Studios.
