In 2008, Kelly “Fierce” Burdge embarked on a journey to realize his longtime dream of becoming a singer/songwriter. Drawing on experiences from his own life, Burdge began writing music, and refining his ideals regarding what a rock band should be. The project continued to develop, and he enlisted the aid of John LeCompt (2008 Grammy Nominated guitarist for Evanescence/We Are The Fallen/Machina) and Phil Taylor (Future Leaders of the World/Machina).
As the music evolved and was recorded, the CD began to tell a story from beginning to end about love, hate, and the never ending challenge of relationships. Burdge named the project NoMara, deriving the name from the Buddhist lord of misfortune, sin, destruction, and death, Mara. As such, NoMara means our partner is not Mara and should not be abused as if they are the evil one.
NoMara continues to tour in support of their debut CD, and maintains a strong presence on the World Wide Web, being voted “The Next Big Thing” in July 2009 and named “Artist of the Month” August 2009 by Alternative Addiction.
