No More Babylon

Reggae activists with a message for over 16 years, No More Babylon is amongst the most experienced and skilled French reggae bands. No More Babylon has shared the stage with numerous international artists such as, to name but a few, Alpha Blondy, Yellowman, Ijahman Levy, Mystic Revelation Of Rastafari, Toots And The Maytals, U Roy, and Misty In Roots, both all over France and Europe (the Eurockeennes de Belfort, the printemps de Bourges, the Rototom Sunsplash in Osoppo, Italy, the Ostroda Reggae Festival in Poland, and the Sundance in Eindhoven, NL, for the most prestigious performances.

After a couple of albums, "Stand The Pressure" in 1999 and "Vampayah" in 2003, the band was praised for its ability as a backing band alongside arists such as Bushman, Everton Blender, U Brown, Dennis Alcapone, Winston Reedy, Omar Perry, Rod Taylor, Josie Mel, Winston Francis, Sheila Hylton, Tyrone Downie (Bob Marley's keyboardist), Kenny Knots , Madu, Jah Marnyah, Wonda Prince, Brother Macus, Anthony Que and reggae stars Ken Boothe and Earl 16 with whom the collaboration would give birth to the very first live recording of both artists : Earl 16 "Live With No More Babylon / Mash Up the Dance", 2005, and Ken Boothe "Live In Paris", 2006.

"Roots Meeting", the last opus from the French reggae band No More Babylon (A la Folie Music / distrib Socadisc); has to be the most accomplished music they put out so far. This new 18 tracks 'concept' album, tagged 'No More Babylon And Friends', gathers no less than 8 international artists, sharing riddims with Kiko, the band's lead singer, thereby offering a double vision of the same riddim. These features do not appear on the album for no reason, each track is the result of a long collaboration with the band. Artists like Ken Boothe, Earl Sixteen and famous DJ U Brown can be heard here, putting on a strong effort. Less famed but still worth mentioning are musicains like saxophonist Stepper (Black Uhuru, Horace Andy, etc...) and Didier Bolay (Tiken Jah Fakoly) on the trombone.

Putting forward conscious, positive and militant English lyrics, No More Babylon definitely imposes itself as a sure reggae value not only in France but also on a worldwide scale. With this musical piece No More Babylon reminds us that even though reggae comes from Jamaica, it is not only a Jamaican affair !
