Non-Intentional Lifeform was conceived mid-late 1995 in Perth, Western Australia initially as a side project. It was formed by the singer of local legends Boticelli's Angel (Declan Barry) and three members of psychedelic-alt-rockers Leaf (Andrew Day, Adam Pedretti, Hywel Stoakes) who were also formerly of the metal band Rothgar. Rapidly the band became a priority for all the members and eventually took over from their seperate acts. Roadrunner Records offered them a record contract on the strength of their live show and raw experimental-groove-punk-album-length demo entitled "Close Your Eyes and See what God will Take From You" recorded in 1995. As a result of this they relocated to Melbourne, Australia and began gigging relentlessly around Australia. Their first EP "Air Left Vacant" was released to wide critical acclaim. Next they released "Living or Existing" a single which crossed them, albeit briefly, into the alt-mainstream radio play of 3JJJ. This was followed up by ithe second single, its antithesis- the mandolin soaked "Pissing Silver" which was a live favourite but a much darker song and less radio friendly. The full album released in 1997 was called "Uisce" and was again well received by the press and underground heavy music listeners. N.I.L continued to tour extensively and supported bands such as Korn, Marilyn Manson, Kiss, Helmet, Dub War and Fear Factory during the hectic 1996-1997 period.
Unfortunately the band split in 1998 after internal problems. Declan Barry (Now Declan de Barra) continued to use the N.I.L moniker with a different band, releasing the single "Pathogen" through Roadrunner before finally folding. Declan went on to pursue his Clann Zu project, Andrew Day went on to do Plastic Blue Sky, Nightswimmer and The Sound Movement, and Adam Pedretti joined Killing Heidi after leaving Plastic Blue Sky.

no worries i was a huge fan, the last time i saw you guys live was with the deftones @ ironduke hotel sydney, but declan was the only original and it was nowhere near as good, apart from Pedro and declan, did the andrew and hywell ever do anymore music??
Hey guys, thanks heaps for adding THE SECRET GAME.
I feel like a bit of a little school girl saying this, but I love(d) you guys, have 2 EPs and the album - is there anything else rare/unreleased/live etc to get my hands on? Sold merch for Killing Heidi a few years ago and a chat to your drummer in question, but never got see yas at a gig back in the day (just missed the +18 boat), so anything you got would be appreciated.

Always a favourite with the staff at the Bridge Mall Inn, Ballarat. Intense, epic and terrifying on stage, beautiful guys off stage. The EP always gets a spin when a few of the old crew get together. Thanks for the songs fellas....Slainte
