   About Non Profit Music
Jorge Grundman is a New Age and Classical composer who was born in Madrid, Spain. He began to compose at the age of fourteen. He studied piano, music theory and choir at the Royal Advanced Conservatory of Music in Madrid. He is now a Professor at the Politechnical University of Madrid where he teaches audio- and post-production. While teaching at the University he composed the renowned "Los hijos del frío" ("The sons of the cold"), which was released digitally on mp3.com in January 2001, becoming one of the most famous electronic tunes of this Internet site. The tune was 1 for 27 times on their New Age chart, remained on their Top 40 chart for six months and had more than 1.5 million downloads. Grundman was a finalist for New Age Retailer magazine’s prestigious Narcissus Award, and his We are the forthcoming past, take care of it was also nominated as Best Instrumental Album of 2004 by New Age Reporter.

David Caballero records under the name Gnomusy (Gnome of music). A composer from Madrid, he has made it his goal to express all his major experiences in life through his music. After several years of classical music education at the Royal Conservatory of Madrid, David developed interest in some other styles, such as Andenian (music from the Andes), jazz, ragtime, bluegrass, electronic and folk. Since 1993, David has devoted part of his time to studying synthesizers and sampler sequencing with computers. In 1999, David released some music pieces as Gnomusy on the mp3.com site and obtained great success and worldwide exposure. He had over two-million downloads. Since then, a number of his compositions have reached 1 on the mp3.com New Age chart and also made the site’s Top 40 list which spread his music around the world.

Joaquin Taboada is a piano teacher and Professor of Music and Accompaniment in Navarra, Spain. As a composer, he participated in the Second Festival of New Music in San Sebastian, together with Michael Nyman and other well known composers. He also has been a member of several diverse musical groups spanning pop and classical. After several years dedicated to studying and composing, and to his work as a teacher, in 2001 he decided to record some of his earlier compositions under the title Música Vespertina (Evening Music). The CD was released on mp3.com in May 2002. He also founded the band "Stultifera Navis," in order to present his music in concert. The songs "Alas (Wings)," "Calma (Stillness)” and "Lluvia (Over the Window Glass)” have all reached 1 on the mp3.com charts. In September 2002 on mp3.com, he released Jardin de Santos, music from a multimedia project for the botanical garden of the same name, located in Alicante, Spain. In addition, "Perspectiva de un invernadero" rose to 1 on the European Classical Music charts.

Eduardo Laguillo is a composer, multi-instrumentalist and singer educated in classical music the HigherMusic School of Vienna. He studied jazz at Aula de Música Moderna in Barcelona, among others. He has devoted much of his time to the studies of East-Indian music and explores the healing properties as well as other spiritual dimensions of music. He developed his professional career as a composer of diverse works for piano, choir, string quartets, chamber orchestra and grand orchestra as well as jazz, pop music and fusion. He has performed in numerous concerts with the Eduardo Laguillo Ensemble and with his own rock and pop bands. He created the Taxi Records Label in 1990 for the production and promotion of unknown high-quality Spanish music. On his three albums -- Hay algo en el aire (1991), Manoa (1997) and Ya Wadud (2006), Laguillo displays an exquisite and very special talent to express feelings and provides new dimensions of musical expressions. He joined the NPM project in 2006.

Non Profit Music (NPM), a privately owned record label, was born with the vision of helping people through humanitarian programs using the music sales of new emerging artists in the New Age and Contemporary Instrumental genres. Non Profit Music started in the Nineties when several indie music portals, such as mp3.com, provided many artists the opportunity of sharing their music while obtaining revenues from their digital downloads. As part of a personal self-commitment to humanitarian causes, one of these artists, Jorge Grundman, donated all proceeds obtained from royalties for music downloads on mp3.com to Doctors Without Borders (DWB) in Spain. After a resounding success on the Internet, Grundman decided in 2002 to create the Non Profit Music record label to officially launch his artistic career by releasing his first album We are the forthcoming past, take care of it. He also donated all profits from the sales of his album to DWB and opened new horizons to artists with similar interests.

Non Profit Music artists have had continuous success online since the creation of the label. They have appeared on many mainstream TV shows, on radio and in press interviews in Spain and also internationally in Europe, Japan and, with the help of Only New Age Music, in the USA. NPM has been featured on many panels in Spain (Madrid and Barcelona) to present and explain the NPM philosophy and achievements with the support of the Spanish retail chain FNAC Music Superstores.

In 2005, Non Profit Music signed an agreement of collaboration with Doctors Without Borders in Spain, and NPM made a formal donation to DWB. In addition, several humanitarian promotional activities were established including the permission to use the DWB logo on the NPM products packaging and the production of ongoing benefit concerts. Non Profit Music also has created the NPM Foundation, with a broader scope in its aim of music promotion and humanitarian help. Thus, a number of solidarity concerts have taken place with renowned artists such as Ara Malikian; and, in addition, the NPM Chamber Orchestra has been formed. Their album, Tears of Beauty, was launched in 2006, as well as the audiobook Con Los Nueve Sentidos (With the Nine Senses).

This compilation, eMotive, is a selection of the most representative works of Non Profit Music artists, including music from already released albums as well as new tracks from upcoming releases.

Thanks for supporting Doctors Without Borders! I've seen money donated put to very good use, helping people who would otherwise be neglected, forgotten or have no access to health care...
