I had been playing music with different types and kinds of people for maybe 12 years. Nothing arrived, but learning. I knew I hadn't wasted my time. So Thérèse was just the end of that period and the beginning of another. Finally I felt that I was able to make my own music and show it to other people. I took the name Thérèse from a Balthus picture (Thérèse, 1938). The first time I saw it I had that kind of feeling that you have when you see a movie, read a book or listen to a song and it's like each is speaking about you. Thérèse, for me, is just the weird mixture of the woman and the child, disproportionate but beautiful. She's with you but not, warm and cold at the same time, close but distant. Just a changing point, in-between extremes.

Llevaba unos doce años tocando con distintos grupos, distintas clases de música. Nada había cuajado, pero como de todo se aprende, al menos sabía que no había estado perdiendo el tiempo. Thérèse se convirtió, de ese modo, en el final de un periodo y el principio de otro, donde, finalmente, me sentía capaz de hacer mi propia música y mostrársela a la gente. El nombre Thérèse lo cogí de un cuadro de Balthus (Thérèse, 1938). La primera vez que lo vi tuve esa clase de sensación que se tiene cuando ves una película, lees un libro, o escuchas una canción y es como si estuvieran hablando de ti. Thérèse, para mí, es, simplemente, la extraña mezcla entre la mujer y la niña, desproporcionada pero hermosa. Ella está contigo, pero no, cálida y fría al mismo tiempo, cercana y distante. Tan sólo un punto de inflexión entre extremos. Esa era yo (esa soy yo), en Thérèse.
