No Parents rose from the ashes of the Secret Intentions. Michael was living in New York, and told me he was moving back to Alabama, in large part because he wanted to be able to create with others comfortably, easily, and without pretense. We talked, and wanted badly to just write together and then figure the songs out from there, asking whoever we wanted to add here and there. We moved in together and started playing. A few songs were coming along well enough, and we invited Adam from the Hell to play bass full-time. Pretty soon, we needed a drummer, and of course we looked to our old Intentions drummer, Michael's little brother Mark.
So far we've got hardcore punk basslines, Jon Bonham drumming, and post punk lead over pop songs.
We talked a bit more, went through a lot of other members, locked Bryant in to play keys.
I got fed up with all the noise and left the band, and started regretting it when No Parents debuted, sounding tightened up, hitting everything head on, and just a little bit drunk. All the fat was trimmed; the boys were able to strip it down to a bare minimum and then build all the fucked up shit on top of it. I came back when Michael invited me, broke out my Yamaha portasound mini-synth and my saxophone, bought some pedals.
hell to the fucking yes! my jvc and canon gear + me will be all over the tour bus. just promise me drama so that the incisive documentary of the meteoric rise to success is as legendary p.s. chewy politely requests that on at least one sold-out tour he's allowed to do a duet so he can stage-dive.
lyrics to Age of Distraction = A+ also I am totally digging the studio version of Queen of Foxes. keep rocking Rockenstein! (and all the rest of you orphans)
