No Place Special was started to keep our 2 daughters with San Fillippo, an incurable, degenerative syndrome, out of a nursing home and in their own home. Our daughters first love all of their young lives was music so we figured what better way to help them to stay at home than with some great music from independent artists. Their first unofficial music therapist was Larry Zarella who introduced us to the house concert concept. It is a way that we can bring live music into our home because when you have 2 children that require 24 hour care there is not much of a social life and we love people. We hope that our No Place Special house concerts will bring that into our home for us and our children. We have a fabulous venue with a great sound system that any artist would want to play in. Just ask the ones who have been here.
Here's a video that was captured of me offering my bottleneck slide interpretation of an old blues song, Goin' T' Brownsville, on open mic night at Old Strokers in Everett, WA. It starts out with me briefly introducing my homemade "Nobro" resophonic guitar and explaining some of the various recycled garage sale junk that I used in it's construction. Enjoy!
