The first song on our playlist is entitled "Delusions", and the second, "Troll Bridge", both composed by myself, Ted Trimble.
This represents my personal journey into my past ancestors, the Vikings, on a Musical pallet. Nordic Project is a very international band. Two Xpats living in Europe from New York; one in London, Gene Calderazzo, probably the most in demand drummer in Britian for the past ten years; and myself, at the time living in Holland, having been invited in this time for Classical auditions. The last time as a Bass Teacher in The Hague at The Royal Conservatory.
Finnish composer and brass man Antti Rissanen brought me and Gene up to Helsinki to feature us at his performance for winning Trombone awards in his country. We played with the UMO Radio Orch., and recorded the Nordic Project CD in two days in between teaching and rehearsing the big band music. Also Jarmo Savolainen from Sibelius came in thru Antti to form the group on the CD. Jarmo and I hooked up like mad; He read my music as I finished writing it in the studio and played the first take like a champ. It felt great so we went on doing mostly first takes. Hey! After a week with a Big Band whats a Quartet really. The Big Band was tough sound-wise and we had to get used to each other fast under the pressure of being the first Bass-Drum team of Americans invited in like we were. We were doing cultural exchange on and off the bandstand.
