The arctic beast of Nordvrede was born into the northern Norwegian battlefield autumn 2004
as a two-man alliance, consisting of Nekrosoldat (guitar) and Guderian (drums).
The name Nordvrede is Norwegian for northern wrath.
When Nordvrede for the first time spread its vindictive propaganda towards christianity and
modern society, the filosophy behind starting the band was to create art of aggression, anger
and war combined with showing our deep devotions for our majestic surroundings.
The band lived on, producing war-hymns with two permanent members until late autumn 2005
when K.H Horisont joined on bass. A couple of cold winter months later, our second guitarist
Haerfar and our vocalist Iskrig swore allegiance to Nordvrede. With full ranks, heavily armed
with the same grim intentions, arrogant feelings and dedication, hymn after hymn giving birth
to Nordvredes dark and rageful reflections around sexual assault, war and anti-christianity was
spawned from the catacombs of Salar.
The debut full-length opus, 'Escaping The Abyss', contains eight tracks of majestic progressive black metal, contrasting extreme elements with graceful passages creating a sound that is refreshingly original and unique. Blending together a wide range of different musical influences, (including the likes of Enslaved and Opeth), Fornost Arnor have created an unmistakable style... one they have made very much their own.
'Escaping The Abyss' is released December 14th through Witch-King Records, and will also be available through CD Baby, iTunes and Rhapsody as digital MP3 downloads soon after.
