About me:
I am an honest person, but not very open. I am not offended by questions, and usually never offended by words. To me, actions speak far louder than words. If you ask me a question you want a serious answer to, I will either answer it honestly, or tell you why I will not answer it.
I do whatever it takes to keep my word, (even if it means going naked for Halloween). If I cannot keep my word, I will do my best to make up for it.
I am trustworthy, but not highly trusting. I've been burned too badly to trust anyone too much.

Etymology, the study of the history of words. The word itself comes from the Greek words étymon and lógos. Where did the Greeks get these words? Most English words are either French or Germanic. The most common words are Germanic, which explains why German is so easy to learn. I know a little French.
However cliche it may be, 'Fuck' is my favorite word. It is quite versatile, yet has a simplistic beauty upon which no other word even comes close. The origins are a bit of a mystery but it is believed to be Germanic. Its first known use in English was in 1475. It was written 'to fuck' and meant intercourse. My how it has grown.

Rock climbing has become a favorite weekend event of mine as of late. I love finding a little rock ledge upon which to rest my weary limbs. Looking down and out across the landscape from high above the ground, knowing the only thing catching me if I fall is a rope with several points of failure, any one of which could give way leading to my quick journey to the ground.
Sometimes while climbing, the person belaying me is not always paying full attention. During these times I like to close my eyes and just fall back to see how much attention they are paying. Will I fall just a few inches? Or will I have time to enjoy a few good feet of free fall? Will I come to a soft, gently stop, or will the rope suddenly jerk me to a stop?
The feeling of freedom while climbing is tantalizing and exhilarating. I still need to find an ironing board.

In what is known as the double slit experiment a single particle will travel through two slits in a screen and land on a film at a single point. Run the experiment enough and something known as a wave interference pattern will result. This is because the particle is traveling through *both* slits as a wave and interacts with itself in much the same way water waves will interact with one another. Cover up one slit and you find no wave interference pattern. This is all well and good, however, I have run the experiment with a single wave of water. After the wave passes through the two slits the wave interacts with itself at only one point (near the center of the two slits). No wave interference pattern is formed. Why is does this differ for a single wave-particle? Unlike many other questions here, this one is not rhetorical. If you think you have a decent explanation, please, let me know.

Who I'd like to meet:
Is Schrodinger's cat dead or alive in an objective reality? Do our own subjective realities influence the objective reality? What can we really say about the objective reality? What can we really say about subjective realities other than our own? If we never open the box and the health of the cat never influences our own subjective reality, does it even matter?
