   About DALRIADA
BRING BACK THE FERRY! . ......................................................................................................................... "DAL RIATA (ALSO DALRIADA OR DALRIATA) WAS A GAELIC OVERKINGDOM ON THE WESTERN SEABOARD OF SCOTLAND WITH SOME TERRITORY ON THE NORTHERN COASTS OF IRELAND. IN THE LATE 6TH & EARLY 7TH CENTURIES IT ENCOMPASSED ROUGHLY WHAT IS NOW ARGYLL AND BUTE AND LOCHABER IN SCOTLAND AND ALSO COUNTY ANTRIM IN IRELAND." DALRIADA ~ WIKIPEDIA: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dál_Riata . ......................................................................................................................... "THE FIRST SETTLERS FROM THE IRISH TRIBE OF DAL RIATA IN COUNTY ANTRIM ARRIVED IN ARGYLL AROUND 400AD. THEY WOULD HARDLY BE NOTICED BY THE PICTS. THERE HAD ALWAYS BEEN CONTACT WITH IRELAND - AFTER ALL, THE MULL OF KINTYRE IS ONLY 12 MILES FROM THE EMERALD ISLE." KINGDOM OF THE SCOTS: http://www.rampantscotland.com/know/blknow_dalriada.htm . ......................................................................................................................... "DALRIADA WAS FIRST THE NAME FOR THE LAND IN NORTHERN IRELAND. FOUNDED BY CAIRBRE RIADIA WHO SETTLED IN THIS AREA, AND LATER, THE NAME WAS APPLIED TO THE SCOTTISH AREA WHERE ANGUS, LORNE AND FERGUS SETTLED." IRISH DALRIADA: http://macinnes.org/dalriada.php . ......................................................................................................................... ""DALRIADA WAS PROBABLY ONE OF THE MOST SIGNIFICANT AND IMPORTANT OF THE CELTIC MARITIME KINGDOMS, STRETCHING FROM THE NORTH ANTRIM COAST TO THE MULL OF KINTYRE, THUS UNITING THE COUNTRIES OF IRELAND AND SCOTLAND. ALTHOUGH NOW SHROUDED IN MYTH AND LEGEND, THERE IS LITTLE DOUBT THAT IT PROVIDED POLITICAL AND CULTURAL LINKS ACROSS THE SEA OF MOYLE, WHICH HAVE PERSISTED DOWN THROUGH THE AGES UNTIL TODAY." Hi Dick,
You obviously know my home area pretty well. Haven't seen Jack for a while as he is in the U.S.A. just now but I bumped into George Haig a couple of weeks ago. Small world.
Kinross is not in Fife though ;-)

Hey Dick, thanks for the lovely compliment, was great seeing you all and playing some tunes even if only for one night. We had and amazing week in Miltown, met some lovely people, learnt loads, played lots of tunes and got no sleep.... Its all good... Anyhow, I'll make stern attempts to be over again in less than 3 years.... :)

We appreciate the request, Dick; and we sure have a lot in common...like your version of 'peat fire flame'. Vonnie from 2 Bits (hammered dulcimer and piano). We're upper left in the photo.

Dick,
Thank you for the add request. Peregrines are amazing creatures! I can only imagine how truly awesome it must be to watch them in such a setting! As you know there is no experience that matches that of working with any raptor! I am truly blessed to be have the opportunity to work with such magestic creatures.

Hello Dick, how are you? good news! Myself and my friend Katherine, who I've noticed is in your top friends, will be invading Ireland at the beginning of July! Prepare to run and hide now..... :) Anyhow, we're heading for Clare but thought we spend our first night in Antrim which is looking likely to be a thursday and I know your the man with the knowledge of the sessions. :) If memory serves me true on our last visit tunes were in portstewart on a thursday. Is this still the case? Can't wait to say hello again. :)

Eilidh :)

wow!
On that trip, we did our gig and went to bed. Him and his mates stayed up all night drinking and refused to leave the next morning until after the off-license opened and then in B'castle he wouldn't take any pay until we had played a few tunes in the local pub!
Aaargh...
