About me:
Hello NCAC Members and Prospective Members.
I have a friend, Laura Wendt, who describes the beginnings of an organization in a really interesting way. While we are not actually a new organization, we have many new faces and a refocused mission that we have been working on since January 2009.
Laura suggests that the stages of development in a new group go something like this:
“Storming”—Lots of great ideas expressed, energy and enthusiasm abounds
“Forming” –-Starting to develop the structure needed to make things happen
“Norming”—Energy is moving in an orderly way and most parts of the puzzle are linked
“Performing”—Making effective strides, moving together in concert with each other and the mission
While we strive to become a valuable resource for our community, we have done some great things already and the
month of May has been a good one. On May 28, 2009 the North Country Arts Council awarded our first recipient of
the “Art That Inspires People to Action”, Malarie Gokey, senior at South Jefferson High School working with Mary Ellen Shevalier. Our first “Plein Aire on the Square” was held on May 16. Our website is becoming the clearinghouse that many people requested in January. The calendar is active and more organizations and artists are linking to it daily.

Meanwhile the Summer Festival Committee is busy developing programming for the August 15 event in the beautiful Thompson Park. Artists may exhibit and sell work there. Arts related organizations can provide information to the public about their projects. Musicians and dancers will perform. For more information on the Arts Festival, contact
coordinator Cecilia Thompson at cthompson200@hotmail.com
North Country Arts Council is committed to promoting The Arts, artists, and education in and through the arts. We have a lot of work to do and would invite you to be a part of this development. Our meetings are held on the second Thursday of the month at the Flower Memorial Library at 6pm.
As always, thank you for your ongoing support of literature, music, theatre, dance, visual art, fine crafts. These make the North Country a better place to live.
Regards,
Kari Robertson, President
