Tim Hayes' Accident on I-77 Exit 30
Medic 13 was retired until Sept 2007, when it was placed back on the road (an all new unit) and 30 minutes into the shift it caught fire. hmmmm, kinda freaky.
North Mecklenburg Rescue Squad has been around since 1959. North Meck Rescue currently respond's to any medical or rescue incident in the Huntersville Fire District. Last year we ran 2,216 calls. North Meck Rescue was the only department in Mecklenburg county certified as a HEAVY RESCUE provider by NC Association of Rescue and EMS, but now we are pleased to say that Gilead Fire and Rescue is also Heavy Rescue Certified. All members of the Rescue Squad are required to be NC EMT-Basic Certified and any new member has 2 years to get certified as a NC Rescue Technician. We Cover I-77 from Exit 18 to 25 North and Southbound currently (we used to cover from Exit 16 to the Iredell County line). Due to some of the local fire departments becoming first responders we no longer cover Davidson, Cornelius, or the Gilead fire districts. We have at least 1 paid member on duty at all times. 31 Members total on the roster.
We would like to take this time to recognize the efforts of our fire, law and EMS organizations throughout Eastern North Carolina. They have given up time with their families, many nights of sleep and even money out of their pockets, yet they ask for virtually nothing in return. Often, we take it for granted that when we ask for emergency help, we just assume someone is going to show up. However, we often forget or don't think about the sacrifices that these individuals had to make just to help their fellow neighbors. Thank you for the dedication to your communities. Thank you for the time you give up so freely, but most of all, thank you for caring.

Letting ya'll know Kevin Lewis from Midland Fire and Matt Ford from Cabarrus Rescue went to Grennville N.C. and passed Andy's and Todd's Sar2 exam on the 17. So it can be done
If you’re ever out this way, remember you have family in San Diego now so check back for information on community happenings; training opportunities, and Pipes and Drums Band performances.

Thought of all you guys this past week. Took and passed the CERT course in Victorville, CA. Pulled a few people out of tower and used one dummy's arm to support yellow blanket on top of shock patient waiting for heli-c. Evr1n laughed. It's a tough job and lots of decisions to make before you save them all. I admire you boys & girls. Good pictures on your site too. Hugs, prayers and good stuff to you all - always. Donna
Thanks for the add! Thank you for all you do for our community...I DO remember...and hope I can do it again soon....My heart is still there....LOVE the new rescue truck....
