a lo-fi recording project started by neill miller. north noble was started in late 2003. the original basis of this project was to create a body of songs that were released under a creative commons license. this is because i believe strongly in the spirit of sharing music without too many restrictions. the particular license chosen for all currently songs is the attribution-non-commercial-sharealike license. this basically says you can do anything you want with the music (i.e. rip, burn, mix, re-master, edit, etc) as long as you credit me as an author, don't make money off of it, and release the final work under a similar license (so that others can do the same if they want).
over time, some of the recorded music was able to be translated into acoustic versions that could be performed. since most recordings have 3-4 tracks of guitars on them, it's very hard to pull off performances convincingly with only me playing and singing. the songs are often too stripped down, if you ask me. i'd prefer to play live with three guitarists, and at least one other vocalist than myself. that said, i'd be very happy to perform with even one other guitarist ;-)
for a short while, i played and performed with a friend alana grelyak.
aside from all of this, i've been writing and recording lo-fi music since september 1993 in various incarnations including neillm, alexis shoulder, alkuzeltzer, letter to edison, and more recently, teh nuts. i've also recorded boat loads of songs before i was savvy enough to digitize them, so those are mostly lost in the void of cassette tapes. i don't even have a working cassette player anymore! so sad ...
