NorthPoint was formed in Spring of 2004, in Portland, Oregon. Ken Lowther (guitar, vocals) and Alan Crouch (bass, vocals) began writing original material, and Charlie Swift joined on drums to complete the line-up. NorthPoint plays rootsy, roadhouse rock in the vein of the Rolling Stones, Train, Soul Asylum, and Three Doors Down. The band has also been compared to "The Blasters" in terms of their raw, rootsy sound.
The band plays regularly around the Portland metro area, and released their first CD in 2005. Their second CD, Wildwood Trail, was released in March 2006. Their music is inspired by the Pacific Northwest and Americana, with songs like "Rain Falls Down" and "Desolation Angels" being favorites among their local Oregon following as well as a growing international audience from their Internet presence. The songs, all written by Alan Crouch and Ken Lowther, focus on simple bluesy roots rhythms and lyrical content spanning freedom, joy, pain and redemption, helping the down and out, and fighting for what you believe in.
Latest information, lyrics, tracks from CDs, upcoming performance dates, merchandise, and booking information are available at the North Point website: http://northpointrock.com or http://myspace.com/northpointrock
Their latest CD, Wildwood Trail, is available at local Music Millenium stores in Oregon, or on the web at http://cdbaby.com/northpoint.
Thanks for supporting indie music in Oregon!
One can disregard the pitch for religious vocations in this video and simply be saturated by the music. Music in western civilization began with and evolved from Gregorian chant.
