A compilation of diverse and skilled musicians, Northwater was formed in the small town of Ellensburg, Washington with guitarist Joel Gage and drummer Brad (ANIMAL) Anicello. The name Northwater hails from the original jam location, or “haunted old building” on North Water street in downtown E-burg.
Legend has it that Brad and Joel go way back to the middle school days in Renton, Washington. Timing was right and the band was formed. Matt Ackerman, who had several side projects with Brad since 2001 came into the mix in early 2007 as a bass player. Primarily a guitarist, Matt brought melodic adhesion to the group as a bassist, and Northwater became a powerful force in the Seattle/Tacoma area as a four-piece with former front-man, Page Mossey.
Big changes began in 2008 when Page decided to pursue other musical endeavors, and Matt decided it was an appropriate time to begin the search for a bassist so he could get back behind his Custom 22 for the band.
Shad Higgins joined the band as lead vocals, Matt moved to guitar, and Northwater welcomed Olympia musician Patrick Aga to pound out the low end.
Due to the band changes, the long anticipated LP “The Fall” was delayed for new tracks to be recorded. The band is expecting the release of the album by summer 2009.
