About me:
Have you ever scooped poop, looked in the open mouth of a bear or handled a cranky owl? Then you must be a zoo keeper, too! I’m Wendi and I am the lead keeper for the Trailside Encounters program at Northwest Trek Wildlife Park.
I started at Northwest Trek in 2001 as a zoo keeper after several years at Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium. Getting a job at a zoo isn’t always easy. I did part-time work for four years. But being around the animals is so worth it!
One of the parts of my job I like best is training the animals. It's very rewarding to see positive changes in their behavior.
