..Norushi Minx is an Austin, Texas-based dream pop, indie-ethos band made up of two individuals... ..Austinite’s Huyen (vocals, guitar) and Marc Fort (bass) breezed past each other at concerts for years within Austin’s large circle of friends before they ever met. Circa 2007 a fast friendship built on guitars and a shared love of Sigur Ros concerts formed the genesis of their burgeoning musical collaboration... ..Huyen had jammed with some of the usual suspects from Austin’s indie rock scene, as well as studied with hardcore blues troubadours like Buddy Guy and Evan Johns. Fort had been playing in touring indie rock bands since 1990, including ..Schatzi.., bo bud greene and The Fuckemos. .. ..Although the band’s name might sound partially Japanese, Huyen (pronounced “h-win”) is Vietnamese-American, and was born in Vietnam while Fort is African-American. Norushi Minx is the East meeting the West, yin and yang, old and new... ..And for the dastardly deed of putting Norushi Minx music into ye ol’ pigeon-hole box: dream pop, shoegaze, noise pop, indie-ethos rock or any permutation and re-arrangement of those descriptors will certainly do.
