What’s in a name? To many, a name is a label for a human, thing, place, product (as in a brand name) and even an idea or concept, normally used to distinguish one from another.
The name “No Scope” however, can imply many things. Perhaps the name can reference a skillful shooting of a sniper rifle without the use of a scope. Or the conundrum presented by not having mouthwash, or the inability to gaze upon the cosmos. To the band No Scope, the name implies one idea: getting pwned.
What is getting “pwned” you might ask? Pwn or pwned, is a slang term that implies domination and/or humiliation of a rival. It sprang from the similar term "owned" and is used primarily to taunt an opponent that has just been soundly defeated. Examples include "pwnage" or "you just got pwned".
No Scope’s goal however as a performance group of musicians is not one to wish harm upon its loyal fans, as in the term “pwned” for defeat. Rather, it’s one of entertainment and fun, meaning that while at a No Scope venue, you sufficiently got pwned; either head-banging, dancing or singing along and had a blast.
Emerging from the western Fort Worth region, No Scope’s determination to pwn others strives from trying to bring an alternative-metal sound that fans have said make No Scope sound like similar artists such as Slipknot, Mudvayne, Snot, Puddle of Mudd and many other bands.
In a competitive area where many others bands aim to be the heaviest and baddest attitude bands, No Scope mixes a fine blend of metal/funk/rock/ and pointless-other-subgenres, to try to bring a fresh musical score to there listeners and fans around the world while trying to play the nice guys; meaning they want and look forward to talking to every fan.
No Scope is enjoyable alternative/metal, that doesn’t try to take itself too seriously with a bad-attitude image and hopes to create an image of fun and pwn the fans.
