No Show Ponies is an American rock and roll band founded by singer/songwriter brothers, Jeff and Ben Brown. Born and raised in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, the brothers relocated to Austin, Texas in 2006 after discovering what they describe as, “An American city with a singular energy and appreciation for the creative arts.”
As No Show Ponies, the brothers create music inspired by the best aspects of rock and roll. The energy of Elvis, the truth-telling lyricism of Dylan and Leonard Cohen, the operatic vocals of Roy Orbison, the swagger of Motown, the irreverence of Paul Westerberg, the unique vision and integrity of artists like Bruce Springsteen, Morrissey, and U2–all of these qualities are present in the songs of No Show Ponies.
On April 7th, 2009 No Show Ponies released its debut album, The End of Feel Good Music, which was produced by Austin luminary, Kevin Russell (The Gourds). The album deals explicitly with what the Brown brothers describe as, “what it feels like to have lived in America during the last few tumultuous years.” The End of Feel Good Music features performances by members of The Gourds, and by another Austin favorite, John Dee Graham.
Thanks for being a friend -- you ROCK! I hope you enjoy my music and will remember me for all your songwriter needs (any genre). Please invite one of your other MySpace friends to check me out -- I'd be happy to do the same for you!
Hey Brothas, remember me?? Hope all is well in your world. Try & book a show Feb 28th night - Mar 2nd so I can get my Pony fix while I'm in ATX. If not, we'll have to catch up & drink cheap beer . . sounds glorious.
