Born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Kassiano moved to New York with his family
at an early age. As a teenager he picked up the guitar and played in bands, and it was at this point that his music career began.
While he worked on completing his graphic design degree at Pratt Institue, a renowned art school in
Brooklyn, Kassiano also discovered nyc's golden era of music
by attending events at legendary clubs like Palladium, Roxy and Tunnel.
Soon after his passion for music pushed him to learn to produce and DJ.
Eventually, Kassiano combined his musical and
artistic abilities with his Brazilian roots and the
result was Nossa, a lifestyle brand/label created with
friends. Nossa quickly formed as movement and became internationally
recognized as the brand and label that bridges the raw
sounds of rio with the rest of the world. The first musical
release was the groundbreaking mix " I love baile funk", which was
probably the initial introduction of brazilian baile funk music
to the international scene. Additionally, this mix showcased Kassiano's
unique style of producing and remixing quintessential brazilian sounds with
other forms of dance music. As a result, numerous gigs followed the release, as well as many Nossa branded events, such as the"Favela Clash" party. The now legendary event was the first of its kind in New York City and has received high praise from tastemakers and publications.
Kassiano's productions have also earned him praise and
features from magazines such as Bpm, Urb, Fader, and Xlr8r. His
remixes and re-edits have also been dancefloor staples for many
dj's around the world, and they reflect Kassiano's dj'ing style:
heavily influenced by brazilian energy heavy on the bass and basically an anything-goes-sweaty dance experience.
Most recently, Kassiano produced the song "Machuka" for Lil Jon's soon to be released album Crunk Rock.
He is also finding time to work on a side dance project called Tropikill, developing his own soon to be launched Nossa Music label, producing new solo material, as well as working on music for Pitbull's upcoming 2010 album.
