No Such Thing run workshops linked to this performance, that reflect a small-scale version of the structure and exercises we use in our own rehearsal process. We work with the body in relation to space and to others, looking at movement, voice and improvisation. We begin with games and exercises that develop into techniques, which can be used as devices for creating your own work.

‘Happerdashery’
"Herbert and Henrietta Honkerduke (twice removed), welcome all to their 2nd Birthday do.
The Honkerdukes present 'Happerdashery', surrealist walkabout theatre set in the roaring 1920's.
This is The Honkerdukes 2nd performance, following some 'Scone Play' at The Custard Factory in Birmingham earlier this year.
Appearing all over the house and grounds at Rookery Park, look out for The Honkerdukes as they bring their own brand of theatrical comedy to this years Erdington Carnival.
Make The Honkerdukes happy dukes and come to our fantabulous get together."
“Your contribution was greatly appreciated and I received very favourable and positive feedback... it added another dimension to the carnival and certainly added to the 1920's theme. I certainly would recommend your company for any other carnivals, events, festivals that are taking place in the City”.

'Kontakt' was the result of an international collaboration of theatre companies and individual practitioners and performers. Co-directed by Artistic Director of No Such Thing, Adam Skerrett and fellow collaborator Lucy Holtom, the production was a response to an invitation from Birmingham's Project X, to create the theatre/performance art aspect of an ambitious event entitled 'Like Fxck'. Collectively, the ensemble were known as 'Unterwelt' and during the months of June and July 2006, they were intensively engaged in devising and realising this ambitious performance.
“The craziest night we’ve been to in ages. Fiddlers and punks, burlesque dancers and boisterousness, it had the works. Keep your eyes peeled for the next one.” (TEN4 Magazine)
“…Taking inspiration from Jools Holland’s Later and 1960’s Happenings, the night presents five hours of seamless and unique entertainment, with performances crossing over and merging in a multi sensory assault.” (What’s On)
“Project X’s Like Fxck event makes most nights out look as adventurous as a trip to the Post Office.” (Metro)
"This collective approaches music, rhythm, soundscapes, spoken word, visual arts and visceral response as different colors on the palette of their expansive art. Blending them all into a singular artistic expression, the result is more an experience than a performance. Their art carries us along on a unique and moving journey through rich inventiveness and subtly subversive ideas. I’d buy a ticket!"
(Paul Provenza – actor, comedian and director of acclaimed stand up documentary 'The Aristocrats')
“The ‘Like Fxck’ event and the ‘Project X Presents’ collective are a unique proposition, who in an age of standardised cultural product seek to help their audience attain a once in a life time experience…by whatever means necessary.” (BBC)
“…’Like Fxck’, is an eclectic mix of performances running from 9pm to 2am, ranging from classical and rock music to digital art, theatre and stand-up. Though described as “A cabaret event for the clubbing generation”, those of us with long enough memories may detect the reveived spirit of a 1960’s “happening”.” (The Birmingham Post)
“This isn’t a symphony, a theatre piece, a gig, an opera, a MegaDog rave, a LostVagueness night. Yes, it’s elements of all those, but interweaved together to make a seamless whole. A direction of the audience’s attentions and thoughts, with them in the middle and the sounds, the performances, the projections, all swirling around them. They’ll begin introspective, wistful and meandering, we’ll make them laugh, we’ll take them into conversing with their fellow audience members, feeling comfortable, we’ll have them dancing in the aisles, then we’ll piece it all back together and celebrate”.
(Anne-Marie Pope, Project X Presents)
