Ain - Close To Cotton
"...Sleepily plucking an acoustic guitar, he commands attention by the old gambit of being the quietest person in the room. There's a bit of Neil Young to his raw-boned croon, and more than a bit of the Bad Seeds to the lurid pictures he paints of his "dead-eyed mistress". Excellent listening for the bleak midwinter."

I listened to all of your songs and I must say that they are fantastic! It is an art to keep the listeners attention with such few means as a voice and a guitar. The way you sing really moves me. Glad to find you here!

Hola
Part of the idea is to enable small-scale producers, copyright owners
of digital works (songs, tunes, videos, data) to publish and charge for
downloading. Music and tune wise we have sorted, still working on
video. As well as 'Raremusez Basement' (all tunes free or 55p) the
download area, there is a Members site allowing registered users to
upload mp3 files which can then be published at the basement. Can you
pass on details to whoever you think might be interested. Charges/costs
and how to are available to registered members. The site is built on
the Joomla open source framework so large scope for development and
hosting.
Cheers Coopz new tunes

Hello! Hope you like my voice...you might like the Neil cover...or the bluesy BRMC one. It's great you dig Sarabeth...i saw her when she supported BRMC a while back.  You have a lovely voice.  Stef played me some of your trax.  Would you like to try a co-write? Or play for me? (my guitar playing is still at beginners plus level lol).   I'll probs see you at Traid sometime. D

....FRIZZ RECORDS is proud to announce our fourth LP release...

LEILA ADU has been described as 'A Nina Simone for the Noughties', and her two acclaimed albums infuse a broadly 'art-rock' approach with elements of torch song, speakeasy blues, avant garde jazz, gamelan, post-rock textures, and a David Lynch style dreamlike b-movie melodrama. As her website has it, exploring the "dissonant edges of familiar forms", but with that kind of 'dissonance' that they once accused Thelonious Monk or Debussy of, the kind that soon betrays it's own compelling melodic and harmonic logic to the attentive listener...

'Dark Joan', Leila's third album as a solo artist, was recorded in Chicago with the legendary Steve Albini (PJ Harvey, Joanna Newsome, Nirvana, Pixies), and Albini's genius has been to strip her sound back to it's essence, and hold it's most distinctive qualities up to the light. It doesn't hurt that this is by far Leila's most powerful set of songs to date, and if anything we are lead even deeper into her world by the pictures painted with just piano (or in some cases harpsichord or a grime-encrusted electric piano) and that voice...

Capable of anything from delicate heartbreaking purity to a fearsome dramatic power, her powers are seemingly limitless, yet unlike most other singers of her calibre, never does she resort to melodrama or show-boating, or any kind of pastiche, instead she employs her resources fully in the expression of her distinctive musical vision and the deep well-spring of her imagination. Nothing ever sounds as though it could have not been sung...

....FRIZZ RECORDS is proud to announce our third LP release...

"Anutha Kinda Brotha" is the debut LP from underground legend ART TERRY. Since moving to the UK from his native Los Angeles in the early 90s, Mr Terry has established himself as one of London's characters. Describing Art's sound to the uninitiated usually involves debunking some of the stereotypes of what the 'typical' black Californian might play. Despite his jazz training, and coming of age to the sounds of classic soul and funk, these styles are only a part of his musical vision. His fascination with folk styles, classical music, punk rock, pure pop, easy listening, musical theatre and the European avant garde have taken him on different paths from most...

The result is an orchestral pop record full of sonic inventiveness, whether it's the blend of Shuggie Otis's 60s California and Sun Ra's ancient Egypt on 'Bible', Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons leading a mariachi band on 'Escort', or the Walt Disney music box orchestra of 'Miss Dominatrix', but whilst this is very much a sonic feast, we shouldn't overlook Art's extraordinary lyrical adeptness, and the distinctive character this brings to the proceedings, with a knack for unique and colourful imagery, and how like a great short story writer he is able to paint an engaging picture whilst keeping back from casting judgement on his characters, always leaving open ends for the listener to tie; giving us the feeling that however far astray someone might have gone, there is always sympathy and human feeling for them in Art's mind...

all great ideas but......well, my ma wouldn't want to shift me
......i don't see how they could film me for a year with myhand cellotaped to my face
......tango a protest might just be irratating for all viewers instead of enetertaining......(in fact i'm sure it would - i wouldn't vote for some prick who did that - not because of serious matters at hand - because the tango would turn me into a shitehawk - and people don't like shitehawks)...........but i lovee the originality of your ideas....please do keep them rolling in......i'd love to enter this thing........cheers dude

howdy,
.......i caught wind of a possible new t.v. program called 'WHAT WOULD YOU DO FOR 10.000 EURO'?.....the things is; you have to think up your own dare......and send off your suggestion in an entry form - i have the entry form ......and if i could come up with a strong, extertaining idea which could be filmed and not get me thrown in prision or killed, i might be in with the running............this has to be fit for t.v. - and that's where i'm getting stumped with the whole thing - what's over the top - but not so much so, that the producers would simply bin the idea on reading it?........

self endurance?.......public humiliation?......facing a fear/many fears?.....doing something WAY out of character?..........i'd expect they're looking for something that no one in their right mind would try.......and they'll more than likely get a bunch of 'oh, i'd streak down a main street of dublin' and shit like that........i need this idea to be completely original and entertaining.........there's only about 10 days left to get the entry form in, so speedy responses to this email would be just swell........each entry picked to be shot, receive 1000 euro and then go into a public vote for the 10k........so throw as many suggestions my way as possible and maybe i'll meld a handful of them together.........................cheers, el browno the magnificent.
