WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR IN AN ARTIST / SONGWRITER
1). ORIGINALITY - BE YOURSELF. PERFECT "YOUR" SOUND. AN "ORIGINAL" IS ALWAYS WORTH MORE THAN A COPY. I SUPPORT OUT-OF-THE-BOX THINKERS AND RULE BREAKERS. For example, you tune-in to Music Choice, a song comes on and you KNOW when it's Luda, you KNOW when it's Jigga. There's NO WAY anyone could confuse that.
2). SKILL AS AN SONGWRITER / LYRICIST - I VIBE OFF YOU and THE CONTENT in YOUR lyrics. SO IF YOU'RE NOT A GOOD WRITER I CAN ONLY DO BUT SO MUCH. THERE SHOULD A BALANCE BETWEEN US WHEN WE COLLABORATE. 50/50, NOT 40/60, 80/20.
3). BELIEF IN YOUR ABILITY - NOT HYPE OR EXAGGERATION, I'M TALKING ABOUT AN UNMOVABLE CONFIDENCE.
Notela was born in BROOKLYN, NY. He spent his early childhood living throughout New York in areas such as Jamaica and Starrett City (now Spring Creek).
Raised in the West
When Notela was seven his family moved from NEW YORK to TACOMA, WA, a city about 30 miles south of SEATTLE, WA in the PACIFIC NORTHWEST. The sudden change of scenery changed him forever.
Notela was first inspired to be a music producer when he took a trip back to New York to visit family in the summer of 1999. At the time, his father was working as a security guard for Def Jam Records. With direct access to Def Jam, it was the perfect opportunity for him to meet rappers DMX and Fredro Starr. His father also showed him Chung King Studios, an internationally recognized recording and production facility. This experience gave Notela his first dose of inspiration.
Now, after years of constant refinement in the art and science of music production, Notela is currently producing some of the most talented unsigned artists the Pacific Northwest region has to offer. As well as taking on various projects outside the state of Washington.
"The Pacific Northwest has a diverse lifestyle and culture which is smart, vibrant, and innovative, not only in business (for example Microsoft), but in the arts. Popular music has been greatly influenced by musicians who have history here in the Seattle area like producer Quincy Jones, guitarist Jimi Hendrix, Nirvana, even Sir Mix-a-Lot.
