The Notes & Scratches are back with a smart new batch of songs, having recorded their much anticipated follow up to 2005’s “Uh Oh” (Tense Forms). The yet-to-be-titled album was recorded in sessions throughout July and August 2007 with engineer/producer Matt DeWine at Pieholden Suite Sound Studios. These recordings mark the entrance of the newest member of the Notes family, Whitney Johnson (Dave Fischoff), who can really tear it up on the viola! Some of the new delights are available here to get a taste of the new record, coming in 2008!

"Broken Social Scene’s manic party vibe is present, but their closest neighbor is the Arcade Fire, although singer Josh Dumas is a husky-throated Tom Waits-alike, not a Bowie/Byrne disciple. ...Taken all together it’s not so much high lonesome as lo-fi hopeful." -pulsetc.com

"The Notes and Scratches' raspy, writerly country pop sounds like early Tom Waits channelling Ben Gibbard." -3hive

since we can't post our amazing ad of mushi <---, we're just going to say that we have a new album out on April 26 (www.svcrecords.co.uk) that benefits RAINN (www.rainn.org). I (Hiram)have been listening to the album a lot lately. What a wonderful piece of work. We miss you (is that weird?). Thanks for letting us pimp ourselves.
