   Nothing But Red's Blurbs
About me:
In April 2007, seventeen-year-old Dua Khalil was pulled into a crowd of young men—some of them family members. They proceeded to stone and beat her to death, a supposed “honour” killing for being in the company of a man of a different faith.

The police stood by and did nothing, and several members of the crowd filmed the incident with camera phones. You can find the video on both CNN’s website and YouTube (We have not linked to the video. A simple search will find it for you.).

One month later, popular writer and filmmaker Joss Whedon posted his complete despair and outrage on a fan-run news blog, Whedonesque.com. Among his words was a call to action. This is how some of us responded.

We have put together an anthology of “responses” to both Khalil’s death and the issues Joss Whedon raised in his original essay (culture of misogyny, violence against women, and the need for equality). It has been printed through Lulu.com, with all proceeds going to the charity Equality Now.

I had my web designer update my site to reflect the fact that I've donated Stone Maiden to Equality Now.

"I will contribute an essay or short story to the Nothing But Red anthology, but I'm not satisfied with that. Since rights to Stone Maiden have reverted to me, and the book deals with the theme of a powerless woman rising to renown in a world of full of men trying to control her, I am donating this novel to our less fortunate sisters. Every penny I make from sales of this work will be donated to Equality Now."

Thanks for the add.

It is an honor to be among your friends, 'Nothing But Red'. What you seek to accomplish goes far beyond a 'noble cause'... May the highest success in that endeavor await you--
