Worked for 30 years, 6 of them in the Air Force. Now I'm kinda on the bench while fighting for disability.
When a recruiter tells you to join the military, ask them why there's nearly ONE MILLION veterans backlogged in the benefits system.
Get their reason why, if YOU come home fugged up, you won't have to wait months for a medical appointment, or YEARS for financial assistance while living like a peon.

Before considering a lifetime of wage-slavery under the 'protection' of Social Security: consider also that, after the year it takes to be denied disability twice,
"The agency recently counted 762,335 people stuck in the agency's hearings backlog, where it takes a national average of 512 days to get a judge's ruling. The process takes 669 days in Portland's Social Security hearings office, one of the slowest in the nation."
And contemplate how you're going to live if you can't work.

I've been patient, but am not one to take a beating lying down.
Ask other people of color what they do when the System doesn't serve them equally.

How is it goin Kelly? It's been a while! haha So I just wanted to let ya know that I'll be playing a lot more up in Portland this summer and thanks for coming to my show at the Hawthorne last summer! After hearing stories from my OSS/CIA (ret.) grandfather, I almost wouldn't doubt it. lol
The saddest part is that however reprehensibly we tend to look at the former East German Stasi, we seem to have acquired and employed a lot of the same tactics that they once used.
I guess it should all be expected, though, especially when considering that our DHS now has ex-KGB and ex-Stasi chiefs on their payroll.
I didn't even have time to think abut something like that. There was a girl standing next to me and at first I didn't notice what he said and I started to walk towards the register, then I stopped and what he said sunk into my brain. Then I had to ask if he was talking to me or her. LOL
