Survivors of Torture International has been serving survivors of politically motivated torture in San Diego for the past 10 years. There are an estimated 11,000 survivors of politically motivated torture living in San Diego, and an estimated 500,000 in the United States. To this date, SURVIVORS has served more than 800 hundred individuals from over 60 countries, regions and territories. Often, individuals are tortured because of their identity (ethnicity, gender, sexual identity, etc.) or because they are activists for human rights, women's rights and other causes. SURVIVORS offers a holistic approach to healing for our clients, including free psychological, medical, and social services.
