Not Right is formed in Lucca in December 2001 by two ex-members of Ballbreakers (a punk rock band from the same city) with Marta on guitar and vocals and Federico-El Marcos on drums, joined by Diletta (ex-Thyasos) on bass and vocals. After only two months of rehearsal they open the Matrix show season in Prato with Kim's Teddy Bears.
Their basic 70s rock and roll sound with typical punk overtones and attitude is defined little by little, but the main characteristic of the group remains: the mixture of the two female voices.
The band records its first demo, d.i.y., in May 2002 and plays some gigs around Lucca and Pisa. They also take part in the Wild Hill Party with LosDragos and The Pimps and Genetic Parade in Pisa with Waukees, Shakedowns, Toni Crimine, Fase 4, STP and Morticia's Lovers and play at CPA in Florence with the Pin Pals. During this time they appear on the radio show 'Radio Repubblica Popolare del Rock 'n' Roll.
After recording a second demo (this time in the studio), in April 2004, they make two line-up changes: the first in July 2004, when Francesco-Von Hell replaces Federico on drums. This line-up plays two shows, one that same month with Toni Crimine and Fase 4 and one in October with Seed 'n' Feed. The second change comes when lead guitarist Cesare-Big Bang Bigelow (ex-Ballbreakers) joins the group. This line-up wins the Heineken Jammin' Contest in summer 2005 and plays Jammin' Festival in Imola. All Music Video Music invites them to appear on Play It 2. At the same time a compilation of contest winners was available with a copy of September's issue of the rock magazine, 'Rumore.' Later in September 2005, Nicolino (ex-Seed 'n' Feed drummer) replaces Francesco and with him Not Right opens for Black Lips (from Atlanta, Georgia) show in Florence.
Last but not least to arrive on the scene is new drummer Emiliano, from the historical garage band Liars from Pisa. This incarnation plays one gig in Rome and opens for Demolition Doll Rods (with special guest Dome La Muerte from Not Moving playing some songs with them).
Their first 7" "Small Town Rockers" (containing 4 songs) is now available for the label Area Pirata!!!
