NOTWITHSTANDING.. THE BAND
Notwithstanding was formed in 1997 in Izmir, one of the biggest city of Turkey, to perform an original sound by the combinations of metalcore-hardcore with industrial influences and the inspirations of their Turkish musical culture. The members of NWS played in different bands in their background and recorded many demo tapes in their musical careers. These recordings made the members of NWS to be well-known through the underground section of their country...
Therefore, the members formed NOTWITHSTANDING for showing their musical career with an album to reach through all the headbangers in the Heavy Metal scene of Turkey.During 1997-99; NWS was seen in so many clubs, bars and festivals. They got good reviews and critics for their live performances with their strong riffs and melodies in their songs. These live performances took the great interest of Yucel Music Company and NWS recorded their debut album 'Born In A Conflict ' in June 1999.
For supporting the sales, NOTWITHSTANDING made a video for the song named 'Someone Else' and shown in TV shows, progranmmes related with Hardrock & Heavy Metal music on private TV channels and national channel TRT programmes ( such as Rock Market, Rock Station Overdose, Hangar 18, Rock&Rock ).

The 'Born In A Conflict' record sold 1600 copies all over Turkey and NWS was started to be one of the most famous newcomer bands of the last few years in Turkish metal scene. They started to play as headliner in several concerts and festivals in front of the fans. In 1999 1. Ankara Rock Music Festival, April 2001 Eskisehir Anatolian University Rock Music Festival, in April 2000 and May 2001 Ege University, Youth Music Festivals, in May 2000-2001 9 September Youth Festival, in October 2000 Antalya Rock-i Bar Metal Festival, in june 2005 Rock Istanbul Festival are some of the important ones of NOTWITSTANDING's live performance career. During 1999-2001 they got glamorous press features and reviews in magazines, fanzines, local newspapers radio shows and Tv programmes for their debut album and live performances.
In November 2000, NOTWITHSTANDING played for the biggest metal festival in Turkey named 'Rock-Station Festival ' with one of the most popular German Thrash Metal band 'DESTRUCTION ' and got positive review from 'Rock Hard' magazine for their live performance.
In March, 21, 2004, NOTWITHSTANDING played with another German thrash metal giant SODOM in Rock-Station Festival . Finally, in June 2005 they played at The Rock Istanbul Festival with Megadeth .
The second album named 'From Inside' released from Atlantis Music in 2005. 10 brand new tracks were more brutal, more agressive and more melodic than the debut one. NWS wants to show their musical performance and career to the other metal fans on the other lands. You can hear the combinations of modern Metal / Hardcore sound and Eastern / Turkish musical culture in this album. It is really From Inside...
