It was January 2004 in a dirty old barn outside of Detroit where 4 impassioned Indie
Musicians grew tired of the already stale, seemingly endless stockpile of “garage-rock” hipsters and whining EMO mallrats that was “at the time” plaguing the once great city.
Fusing together many tastes ranging from the Midwest punch of The Cars and Iggy Pop
to the delicious swank of Ziggy Stardust and Joy Division tempered with modern rock
sensibilities that only kids coming of age in the 90’s could render… Novada now 5 years on, with a landslide of accomplishments, press, endorsements, brushes with reality T.V. 20,000 units sold and over 400 shows under their belt have cut their own ragged velvety path through the filthy streets of the motor city and beyond.
Continuing with this tradition the bands newest release “Transmission” finds Novada
honing their craft further into the specific groove of Detroit’s “new-wave revivalists”
& delivering more atmospheric 3 minute pop gems to the hopeful delight of one and all.
Accomplishments:
* Over 400 shows (without touring) including being billed with many regional
and national acts such as: The Stills, The Fags, Interpol, Vast, Lovedrug,

* Novada has been accepted into many major music conferences including:
CMJ, MC2, NXNE and SXSW
* Endorsed by several of the regions largest alternative / rock radio stations.
i.e: WCMX, WRIF, CD101, WIOT, WKQX, etc.

Novada was featured in the Spin-Flash section of the July issue of SPIN Magazine. In late April the band was chosen from 400+ participants to
showcase on the 89X-Spin Magazine stage as a part of the inaugural Motor City Music Conference at Ford Field in the great city of Detroit.
“…one of the best rock bands we had on the bill for this years
inaugural MC2…amazing songs and presence…they rocked! “

“LIVE” performance @ The Metro Times Blowout review by: Jasper
NOVADA- This was just a random find….We were looking for anything at this point, trying to squeeze one last band in before…..His Name Is Alive.
I’m pretty sure I’m NOT supposed to like these guys, but their performance was one of the most memorable of the night! It looked like they were only performing to their girlfriends and a few locals who had passed out at the bar. But, we stood there grinning ear to ear as the singer swung micro-phones and threw mic stands while the band, at one point broke into the classic- “You’re All I’ve Got Tonite” When he finished the last song the singer walked off the stage and out the front door leaving the band to wrap things up. This is what the Blowout is all about – getting blown away by a band you never knew existed!
“ the most promising mid-west band I’ve heard in years invoking thoughts
of yester-years arena rock with the melodic sense of Fountains Of Wayne “ -TG
Novada paint epic, cathartic landscapes with hard-driving percussion,
electronic overtures, and atmospheric guitars laden with the perfect
amount of feedback & all led by earnest vocals. The band shows
great potential for future endeavors, -JM

The band blends several elements: raw energy, the flair of “Ziggy Stardust” - - era David Bowie and brash contemporary pop reminiscent of The Killers,
attempting to woo the hearts and minds of blue-collar Detroiters one per-
formance at a time. Released in late 2006 by Australian label 456/MGM Records, the bands full-length “These White Lies Die With Us” beginning
to end is a catchy collection of guitar-driven modern rock nuggets in the
spirit of The Cars and U2. Nostalgic for the raw power of yesterdays arena
rock performers, the Novada guys are quick to say their image and presence
are not the only reason they stand out in our Detroit scene.
Less geeky than Coheed and Cambria and with better songs than
The Bravery, Detroit-based quartet Novada leaves no sensitive modern rock crag of the last 20 years unexplored. Having more in common with their U2
type predecessors than their Coldplay contemporaries, Novada uses
affected electric guitars and synthesizers to accentuate the dramatic lyrics
of the singer known only as Hayze. Carefully produced, the album takes
full advantage of the stereo field, filling all the little spaces between the
speakers with understatedly articulate instrumentation. See their myspace
for show dates and a cover of Echo & The Bunnymens “Lips Like Sugar”
recorded for a movie soundtrack. - RC
