Our first title released through our Bizarro imprint, SQUID SALAD PRESS:
"Tim Waggoner is insane! It's like he drinks rocket fuel and shoots streams of fire from his fingertips. Extremely bizarre and magnificently entertaining." -Andersen Prunty, author of JACK AND MR. GRIN

Reviews for NOVELLO PUBLISHERS' books:
"The tales in TWO TWISTED NUTS form a disturbing duet, sung in piercing falsetto by a couple of seriously unstable gentlemen." --Lee Thomas, author of STAINED and THE DUST OF WONDERLAND
"A triumverate of hysterical, bizarre, riotous stories sure to blow your ass off the sh!*&er!" --Tom Piccirilli, author of THE MIDNIGHT ROAD and THE NIGHT CLASS
"Beyond over the top." --Peter Straub, author of IN THE NIGHT ROOM
Get ready to laugh, sweat, and gag simultaneously as Mark Justice brings you Night of the Living Dead by way of Lil' Abner and Green Acres. Suspenseful, witty, and unabashedly absurdist, Deadneck Hootenanny is just so much damned fun you might feel guilty while reading it, knowing how miserable the rest of the world is because it isn't reading it." --Gary A. Braunbeck, author of MR. HANDS and IN SILENT GRAVES
Heroes
Benny Hill, George A. Romero, Woody Allen, H.G. Lewis, David Lynch and too many others to list.

NOVELLO PUBLISHERS is named after AND dedicated to my late grandfather, Novello "Benny" Barracato, the funniest man I've ever known. He's also responsible for getting me into comedy AND horror (and hot sauce!) at a young age (he allowed my cousins, my brother and I to watch Benny Hill when we were 7 years old, and took us to see JAWS when I was in the 1st grade!). This shot is from his 40th wedding anniversary in 1976 . . . they don't make shirts (or grandfathers) like this anymore. Novello left earth in 1991 . . . but his spirit lives on . . .

XXY--1990--backstage before opening for the legendary JOHNNY THUNDERS at the REDSPOT, S.I., NY. The guy in the gorilla mask / bunny ears/ smoking jacket was the drummer of this twisted hardcore band, but now he runs a small press dedicated to humorous horror! The dude in the wig is vocalist Kaiser Ken (see his profile in our Top Friends area). Our bassist and guitarist were doing a "sound check" at the time this pic was taken.

About me: Established in 2005, NOVELLO PUBLISHERS now has 4 releases, including the cult classic chapbooks TWO TWISTED NUTS, RIGHT HOUSE ON THE LEFT, and the novellas LICKER and our latest release, DEADNECK HOOTENANNY. We also publish the critically acclaimed, old-school fanzine, THE HORROR FICTION REVIEW. After 18 issues published, we sold out and went webzine in the summer of 2008 (see banner below). SQUID SALAD PRESS is our bizarro imprint (see the SSP myspace in our friends area for more info) with our first title released in 2008, SKULL CATHEDRAL by Tim Waggoner. In 2009, NOVELLO PUBLISHERS plans to release the DARK JESTERS anthology as well as an all-new novella by JERROD BALZER, while SQUID SALAD PRESS will release new novellas by GINA RANALLI and T.M.WRIGHT. Who I'd like to meet:
REST IN PEACE---JIM MARSHALL (See his MySpace here: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=75893474)
Jim was one of my best friends from back in my "hang out" days, and since then went on to be an amazing chef (while still remaining one crazy dude). Jim was called away from earth on April 20, 2008, to the shock of all his friends and family. I'll never forget you bro . . . or your Pabst Blue Ribbon-fried hot dog onions. JIM MARSHALL--chef, actor, Elvis fanatic, and the best person to stand behind in "the pit"---thanks for being my personal wall at the 1990 Sonic Youth show at Roseland!
Thanks for supporting me! I just wanted to drop off a little love on your page! If you have time, check out one of my short stories on my blog. Your friend, Brian
