About me:
Newsflash We are finally live in our new community. www.writersonlinecourses.com is our first 100% public community. All authors can upload their book review, articles, links, and take part in the forums. This site is not a 'sale's site' for the online school, but a real interactive community for novel writers. Our community is found at www.inspiredauthor.com">www.inspiredauthor.com Both sites are part of the school.

www.inspiredauthor.com">www.inspiredauthor.com contains thousands of articles to help writers. It sponsors a free chat on Friday nights (7 eastern/New York time). You do not need to register, all you need to do is enter a username and you are in. This chat is open to all writers, and is a serious discussion on the different aspects of novel writing. (Authors, you are free to host a chat if you want to promote your work, and talk about the writing industry)

Membership is not needed to attend the chats. Feel free to join, even book lovers who are not writing a book can attend.

The Internet is full of writing course. However, those offered at writersonlinecourses.com are a little different. Instead of learning the theory behind writing a novel, follow one published author as she 'writes her novel.' Writers who need a life coach to help you succeed and learn the skills needed to be a career writer can find a lifecoaching course, as well as a monthly mentoring group.

Instructors are all:

- published, career writers - certified, or working toward certification (non writing courses) - have received 'higher training' in the courses they are teaching. - trained as online instructors.

Click Here to View Complete Course List

Most Popular Courses

How to Write a Novel: Novel Walk Through Walk through the construction of a complete novel, from pre planning to first draft. This 10 week 'novel walk through' is more of a mentoring course and includes a Sat afternoon online lecture/chat. This course is ending Dec 15. However, students who want to go through the course and see that a novel was written within a few weeks, and how it was done, are free to do so for $20. This will start Dec 20. Students will be able to contact the instructor and discuss aspects of the course.

Life Coaching For Writers & Reach Your Goals in 12 Months

Instructor has passed her life coaching training, and is working toward certification. She is a published author who wants to reduce the time needed to succeed. This course is broken up by month, so writers can stay for as little, or as long, as they feel necessary.

How to Write and Edit a Novel

This course has received major Internet exposure at any school it was posted at. A full, one year course, it is the equivelant of a 5 month, non-credit, university course in fiction writing.

Writersonlinecourses is the first place to offer this course as a 'non-independent' study course. Students will be allowed to work at their own pace, taking up to two years to finish the course. However, they may also join the mentoring group, and receive 1:1 help with their own novel.

Novel Structure & Content Editing

This course is for writrs who want to learn how to create a blueprint of a novel from today's bestsellers. It is also for writers who have finished their novel and want to find plot and pacing problems, flaws in the character growth arc, or how to increase tension and suspense in a novel.

Whether you pre plan or you write & gut this course will help you turn a first draft into a marketable novel, and prepare it for the polishing stage.

Who I'd like to meet: We would like to meet anyone, at any level of their writing career. Writers who would like a private community to hold a book club can request one from Admin.

Writers Online Courses

While our new school platform is only a few months old, the writers at this school have many books, and many years behind them. We have some tips to offer new writers.

Join a Group We have joined many writer's groups at Myspace. If you can't find a group to join, then take a look at our group list and joine of of those.

Write Every Day While this is 'old news,' it usually takes writers several years to understand the importance of writing every day.

Join a Critique Group This is important. Of course, joining a crit group of unpublished authors may sound like 'the blind leading the blind,' but having other people's opinions can shorten the learning curve. www.writersonlinecourses.com/Forum/

Take Courses Of course, you knew this one was coming. This is good and bad news. The good news is, you do not need a university degree to become a fiction writer. The bad news is that you need to learn how to write 'your' story, in a way the publisher can sell it.

Free FORUM Our forum has a critique group where writers can critique their own work - free, or choose a published author to critique their work - $15. Visit Free Forum
Who I'd like to meet:
Authors
I love to meet authors. I hope to meet hundreds of authors and help them promote their work.

Magazine Writers and Book Reviewers
I am also looking for people who can write for the magazine - especially book reviews for 'how to write' books, online courses, and websites.

Book Promotion
Authors who need self promotion and would like to take advantage of the free resources at www.inspiredauthor.com.

Writing Teachers
People who would be interested in teaching at www.writersonlinecourses.com/courses/
1. You must be published (self publishing counts if you have sold more than 1000 copies) (Ebook publishing counts if you are published by one of the top 14 publishers, or have sold more than 1000 copies)
2. If you have not taught online, you must take our teaching course.
3. You can teach short workshops (minimum 2hours) or long mentoring courses.

Just getting the word out to remind our Songwriter Friends that this Friday (June 27th) is the extended application postmark deadline for Skip Ewing's Horse & Writer "Invitational." A 7-day writer's retreat like no other, during which You'll be given personal guidance by Skip and three other multi-award winning hit songwriters. This year: Deanna Bryant ("Stupid Boy," "Johnny and June," "Don't Make Me"), Clay Mills ("Fall," "Beautiful Mess," "Don't Think I Don't Think About It"), and Chris Wallin ("Love Me If You Can," "Don't Blink")

Apply for one of up to 20 scholarships to attend Horse & Writer Invitational for $0 tuition, but do it soon (by Friday)! Scholarship covers all food/lodging/education/riding. (You don't have to ride horses to participate.)

Don't worry if it's not the perfect demo, we're listening to submitted songs that represent their writers. You'll be heard for your writing, not production.

Why not have a look at our software and download the free demo? These are just some of the features:

•unique diagramming system whereby you can visualize parts of the "spider-diagram" as family trees, chapter diagrams, sequences of events etc.
•Templates for new novelists to use in order to follow the structures of existing novels. The list of templates is ever-increasing. Registered users can download new templates for free from this website.
•An excellent printing facility, which allow you (a) to print all or a section of your novel in a format suitable for submission to literary agents and publishers (b) to print a chapter plan, i.e. the "spider-diagram" that you automatically create while using MyNovel. You will find abundant benefit in this facility during and after writing your novel.
•An export facility to Microsoft Word and other word processors. You can export some or all of the novel; plus your chapter plan.
•It includes the ability to "get inspiration" for any aspect of your novel. This is a feature of the MyNovel website, accessible to registered users, which will suggest characters, places, sub-plots and so on to you! This is an indispensible resource which you will get for free. Additions are being made to this area of the MyNovel website all of the time, all of which you will get for free.
•The ability to record the submissions you have made to literary agents and publishers. The ability to record your success!

We hope you take the opportunity to try out our software, we welcome any comments or queries, and are available at both www. mynovel. biz and our myspace page

thanks
Stacy-Deanne (Novelist)

Here's one of the poems from my poetry book, Healing. For more information on the book, see my blog....

Living on the Razor's Edge
by Angel Shadow™

The razor's edge cuts sharp and deep
And tells the secrets that you keep
One has to look to see the scars
A private jail with cold black bars.

Looking out you see the light
But fear prevents you taking flight
Your wings are stripped and put away
Escape will come another day.

You slip and slide on jagged steel
With every step you learn to feel
Emotions raw you push ahead
Recalling words that once were said.

Today can bring your fears to rest
It's up to you to pass the test
For you're the one to break the chains
And push away a life that stains.

Take back your wings and learn to fly
You never know unless you try
And to yourself you make the pledge
Or stay upon the razor's edge.

There is within each of us a spirit that reaches out to all others. That part of us is not controlled by our egos, it knows no time, it knows no boundaries, it has no concept of death...it is undefeatable. It is the friend that we wish, we seek, we know and yet cannot fathom. Welcome to my circle of friends.

"...It is hard to sometimes walk away from a problem in order to solve it. Sometimes our burdens seem so great that they are irresolvable. I have learned this from the study of Logic: To actually know that a problem exists there needs to be some form of a solution to base it on that it exists. As in Physics we cannot measure darkness, so we used Mythos to describe the darkness, even the darkness of our minds. Mythos predates and is the ancestor of our modern Psychologies. The problems we find hardest to walk away from are those that cause us to feel dread. What is easiest to change is the feeling of dread..." From the book: The Lyth of Lemmings by Frank Mueller

When two writers get together to swap stories, the results can be hysterical. Please join my friend, Erin Eisenberg and me as we talk about the writing process, brainstorming and what makes something funny.

Visit www. erineisenberg. blogspot. com

Erin and I chatted by email over several days, so be sure to check back frequently to get the full scoop. Enter the misty world of the "pantsers" who wish they could produce a flow chart for their stories ahead of time, but can't quite seem to get it together.

I'll be checking often so if you have questions or comments, please jump into the fray.

Happy Writing!
