Playing together for over 10 years in various line ups, Now & Retro have pulled together all of their influences and experience to create a great sound for all occasions. The sets move dynamically from The Kinks to The Killers, Elvis Presley, Dusty Springfield and Van Morrison to Elvis Costello, Paul Weller and KT Tunstall.
Every song is a hit, whether from recent chart success or a retro compilation of great classic rock and pop. If you want broad appeal, then you cannot beat the tight harmonic sounds that flow from covers of; Joni Mitchell, Snow Patrol, Joe Jackson, Plain White T's, The Pretenders, Amy McDonald, Razorlight, The Beatles, The Kooks and many many more.
The totally acoustic lounge set will drift easily across your restaraunt or lounge bar: no amps, no speakers, no mics, just wistful harmonies and sultry tones of the acoustic guitar or piano. Crowded House blends into Bob Dylan, The Feeling and Robbie Williams. Larger family groups take turns to name that band, others simply tune in to their favourites and enjoy the background atmosphere as they chat without the "competition" of the PA used by most rock and pop bands.
For pubs and bars, it gets lively with Now & Retro delivering fully powered up classics from U2, Tracey Chapman and The Proclaimers, backed up with recent hits from Franz Ferdinand, Feeder and The Stereophonics. The electro-acoustic guitar winds up some bite for Sheryl Crow, The Monkees, Creedance Clearwater Revival and Oasis, whilst the addition of bass and drum tracks gives an extra kick to some of the rock classics from Bryan Adams, The Kaiser Chiefs and Four Non Blondes.
To top it all, a set of classic dance floor fillers and anthems turn party nights into bouncing and buzzing nights to remember. When some backing tracks are thrown in for good measure you will have to look twice to realise it's not a 7 piece act climbing on stage to join in.... it's the air guitarists, volunteer percussionists and impromptu backing singers working up a big thirst - keeping the bar queue deep and the bar staff busy!
Now and Retro play predominantly across southern England, but have also spent 8 months touring over the last 2 years playing as far afield as Ulaan Bataar (Mongolia), Koh Phan Gan (Thailand), Roatan Island and Copan (Honduras), Copacabana (Bolivia), Creel (Mexico) and Mesa Verde (Costa Rica).
You name it, Now & Retro play it! Ok, not always on the night, but with just a few days notice you'll find most requests are built into what must be the most diverse and eclectic mix of songs available live on stage, each one performed to hit the mood and atmosphere you require for your venue.
