Founding member Jose started No Way Jose, in December of 2001. NWJ has toured in the US, Mexico, UK, Wales and Scotland with no label support.

In the summer of 2006, No Way Jose was selected to play the Hot Topic Kevin Says Stage at The Vans Warped Tour. The following year the band headed into the studio to record their much anticipated EP at Westbeach Recorders (Rancid, Offspring, Blink 182, Sublime, Pennywise, Bad Religion, Face to Face, NOFX, MXPX). That same year, they filmed a video for one of their songs titled ‘Marta’ featuring Crash VJ of Mun2 (Las Chicas Project, & Munshift). The following year, NWJ released their EP on Pee Shy Records in the summer of 2007. They made the top 12 on Rock Alternativo charts in the US alongside mainstream latin international acts such as: Panda, Alison, Café Tacuba, Molotov, Motel, Jumbo, and Manu Chao amongst others. NWJ has been featured on Music TV channels Latination, & SITV gaining a lot of exposure through out the latin community in the US. Recently No Way Jose made the top 3 for MTV3s Best LA Breakout Band out of 116 bands in the Los Angeles Area. NWJ got to compete against two great local bands La Banda Skalavera and South Central Skankers at Six Flags Magic Mountain, in front of a panel of judges. Although, NWJ didn't win the three bands got airtime and exposure on MTV3 Time Warner Cable on DEMAND.

Review by Travis Parno of Absolutepunk.net

A seven track EP infused with fast-paced drums, power chords, and lyrical simplicity, Rice, Beans, and Rock ‘N Roll affords the listener the opportunity to truly turn it up and tune out. The self-described “Spanglish punk” band offers peppy rock that keeps the head nodding and toe tapping with a seamless mixture of Spanish and English lyrics. For such a quick release (clocking in at just over twenty minutes), the EP showcases nice variety from the speed punk of the album opener “Wannabe”, to the devilishly cool “Stripper”, to the aggression of the sure-to-be-fan-favorite “Motherfucker.” There’s a familiarity here that is complemented well by the Southern Californian Spanish influence, much like relaxing in a well-worn Lay-Z Boy while watching Telemundo.

Review by Amalia Renteria of Drivenfaroff.com

A little while ago, I had wanted to start listening to some “Spanglish Punk” bands but just never got around to it until now and I’m glad that they are the one to introduce me to this style of music. One of my favorite songs from “Rice, Beans and Rock ‘N Roll” is Motherfucker. Yeah I know, the title may seem a little bit harsh, but don’t judge a song by its title. The song just has the “yeah, ok, whatever, leave me alone” type of vibe, not only that but you can hear their Spanish influence in it. I can see people hearing this song and singing along to it proudly in the privacy of their own space. In their album, you can also tell these seven songs represent them and the pride they get in creating their style of music with making no compromises and following no one voices but their own.
