“If we like a song or tune enough and think it’s appropriate, we’ll do it” says Brian.
“ We choose songs that “sing” to us,” says Marion “ There will be some sentiment within the lyrics or an atmosphere created by the tunes which relate to our lives evoking memories and wishes, speaking of the happiness, beauty and trials of life”
Audiences can expect to be drawn into the world of “No Worries” with their warmth and humour. Rich harmonies , sensitive guitar arrangements combined with poignant or witty repartee and the swell of welcome audience voices joining them in chorus guarantees a very special musical experience.
“Our performances are a tribute to the wealth, richness and diversity of folk music today. And we hope that our audiences leave appreciating the joy it gives to us all.”
No Worries are Brian and Marion Rodgers:-
Brian began playing guitar in folk bands in the 60’s and made his first album in 1974 with Geoff Twigg. After Geoff moved abroad Brian’s musical career went on hold but an opportunity to spend a year with his family in Australia reignited his former love of performance. Returning to the Medway folk scene, Brian began again with gigs at Kent Festivals such as Broadstairs, Tenterden, Deal Maritime and Rochester.
It wasn’t until 2000 that a surprise fortnight of work at a hotel in Denmark, specifically requesting a married duo, when Marion decided to perform alongside Brian. She had always relished singing harmonies from the safety of the audience but had already been adding percussion (bodhran) to some of Brian’s 6 and 12 string guitar arrangements. The spell was cast and the current “NO WORRIES” duo emerged, continuing to work in the UK, but also abroad as opportunities arose.
They are now an established and much respected part of the South-East folk scene.
No Worries are also delighted to transform into The Bardettes to provide support for our good friend John Barden a singer/songwriter from Maidstone.
