The NonProphets return with all new episodes of The Militant Propaganda Bingo Machine starting Friday, April 11 at The Tin Ceiling Here's a peek:
Here is a trailer, shot and edited by our good friend Drew Somervell, of our first show of the 2007-2008 Season: Corleone ~ The Shakespearean Godfather
The NonProphets started in 1995 when PapaProphet and his lovely wife, Moxie K. Crimefighter, went to Chicago to see the Neo-Futurists and their signature show, Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind. They put together a troupe with some of their very talented theater friends to perform a version of the show in St. Louis, and the NonProphet Theater Company was born.
Since then, we have produced over 300 sketch shows, which included a two year extended weekly run at St. Louis' Hi Pointe Cafe!
The NonProphets debuted their signature sketch comedy show- The Militant Propaganda Bingo Machine- in the summer of 1997. The show earned the Riverfront Times' award for "Best Comedy Show of 2003", and they gave us a kick-ass cover story! to boot! Then in 2006, 52nd City Magazine and the St. Louis Board of Alderman presented us with a "2006 Kick-Ass Award" for having a cultural impact on St. Louis with our show.
In 2006, we launched our first official theatrical season (after having produced two plays previous years) with three full-length plays: American Buffalo by David Mamet, Matt & Ben by Mindy Kaling & Brenda Withers and Girl Gone by Jacquelyn Reingold, which all met with critical acclaim, and even earned a Kevin Kline Award nomination! (Best Supporting Male In A Play - Robert Mitchell, Girl Gone)
.
Our 2007-2008 Season started off in October of 2007 with David C. Mann's Corleone: The Shakespearean Godfather and second by Neal Utterback in November of 2007. Our next show, An Evening of One-Acts: A Life In The Theatre by David Mamet & Lip Service by Howard Corder opens in April of 2008.
Who I'd like to meet: Theater enthusiasts, theater companies, Our Rabid fans, writers, actors, sketch performers, the entire city of St. Louis!
