Coccaro brothers, Carl Almasy on vocals and Rich on guitar, have always had a knack
for writing great music. Growing up on a regimen of mostly UK influences, Rich, a
self-proclaimed introvert, was introduced to the guitar by a dear friend who suffered a
tragic accident that took his life at an early age. Conversely, Carl, with a passion for
life and a love of fine wine, always taunted his counterpart by crooning to the tune of
80’s modernists like The Church and Echo And The Bunnymen.
Nothing Rhymes With Orange’s first release, Soho, was a collection of infectious tunes
that introduced the group to the eclectic South Florida music scene. Their catchy
melodies and foreign sound began turning heads of avid music fans who clamored for
something different than the local music scene had to offer... great songs.
Now writing enough music to debut one or two new songs at each show, the group
released an EP, Under a Spell, to showcase some of the new material. The CD sold
quickly and they soon began collaborating and recording selected tracks from their
roster with the likes of Grammy winning producers, Charles Dye and Bob Rosa.
Polite Gothic, released independently in 2004, took the group to a national audience
by virtue of college radio. The CD achieved medium to heavy rotation during the years
of 2005 and 2006.
Released in the fall of 2007, their first UK single, Billy the Kid, was named amongst “Best Singles of 2007” by Billy Sloan at Clyde 1 Radio. The video was the first of its kind as the director pulled the strings from his office in London over video iChat while the group taped live in Fort Lauderdale, Florida! Kill the Vibe, remixed by London’s legendary Chris Kimsey, has received great buzz. The track made the American College Radio Top 20 charts, including a 3-week 1 position on KSYM in San Antonio, TX. Recorded between New York City and Miami, and mastered by Sterling Sound prodigy, Ted Jensen, 2009 rings in the UK release of the group’s CD, Hello Mysterious.
NRWO’s cross-over appeal has earned the group dozens of support slots for contemporary international heavyweights such as One Republic, Electric Six and John Mayer to cutting-edge modernists like The Bravery, Raveonettes and Louis XIV, with June 19 seeing the group as support for the mighty BEAT at Edinburgh's Picture House.
