NSAI Atlanta-North is one of three chapters of the Nashville Songwriters Association International in Atlanta. There are additional chapters in Carrollton, Athens and Columbus. NSAI Atlanta-North was founded as an offshoot of the Metro Chapter in 2001 by Rose Prock. Elizabeth Marlowe took over as the Regional Workshop Coordinator in 2002 and ran the workshop until she moved to Nashville in 2009. Kathy Jernigan, who signed on as Co-Coordinator in April 2008, is Elizabeth's successor.
The workshop has a very large and devoted membership of songwriters of different genres. At our monthly meetings, we do songwriting lessons and song evaluations, with ample time for networking. Many successful co-writing relationships, not to mention friendships, have formed at our meetings!
We encourage all interested songwriters or aspiring songwriters to attend one of our monthly workshops. You can attend up to two meetings in a calendar year for free; after those two introductory meetings, you are asked to either join NSAI or pay a small admission fee.
The meetings are usually held the first Tuesday of every month from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Please check here before setting out for a meeting, to make sure that a schedule change has not taken place. You can also check for special events; we often present workshops with hit songwriters and teachers. Past special events have included meetings with hit songwriters Jeffrey Steele, Casey Kelly and Jerry Vandiver, Universal Publishing's Creative Director Scott Gunter, and teachers Barbara Cloyd and Pat and Pete Luboff.
