Northern Sky is a collaboration of different genres of music and experiences. Through friendship, luck and Craigslist the formation of the band was possible. Together they share and perform their emotions, struggles, and passion for music. While never falling short of wanting to achieve individual goals since the bands inception, they now share a common goal and dream that is Northern Sky. .. .. Each member has been playing music and performing for years with various bands. Northern Sky is derived from Kinshire Way, Ashbury, Scenic, Bullet for Dali and Lucid Sound. Members of the band have also shared the stage with such acts as The Walkmen, VHS or Beta, John Cale of The Velvet Underground and Ian Brown of the Stone Roses. .. .. Andy Magallon brings a strong skill and grit to the band. His musical transformation from hardcore backyard East Los Angeles Punk to Dance-Electro establishes the foundation for Northern Sky. That being said, Andy believes organic sounds and layers of harmonies are necessary to obtain a great music experience. .. .. Rick Almada and David Lopez inject rhythmic and soulfulness to the band through their love of Classic rock and great Rhythm and Blues. Rick Almada: "I feel that a constant challenge is to stay true to my instrument while infusing modern sounds to create my identity." Joe Gallagher brings his own unique style of Folk to a band already full of diverse influences. Joe Gallagher: "I think the aggressive, passionate and stripped down power of Folk in my song and lyric writing brings a unique layer and humbleness to our band." .. .. Incorporating dynamic influences is a challenge; nevertheless, it is a driving factor that shapes their "Dreamscape" approach to music. Northern Sky may be new to the scene, but they have one goal mind. That goal is to bring well crafted music to the masses and perform in countless venues across the USA. .. .. Industry and professional relationships by band members eventually led to the creation of Northern Sky's self-produced EP. They worked closely with Mark Rains at Station House studios to help create their biggest step into the music industry. Hard work, preparation, and professional involvement produced what might be their greatest achievement to date.
