Who are my heroes? My mother. I should be so lucky to become half the woman she is.
Hi everybody! My name is Norma but my nickname is Twinkie. It might sound like a silly name, but in fact... well it is. It was given to me in high school by a very dear friend of mine who passed away, so in honor of her, I kept it.
I am originally from a small town near Guadalajara, Jalisco, MX called Tepalcapetec and grew up partly in Colonia Santa Cecilia and partly in Tijuana. When I was about 9 years old my family made the big move into the United States and we've been here ever since. By "family" of course I mean my mom, dad, older brother and sister. My parents had three more children which they raised in McFarland. By "they" of course I mean my wonderful mom and my older sister. My dad's job as a father was complete as far as he was concerned when he helped conceive them.
I am now married and have four children the ages of 17, 16, 8, and 7. They are my world. I never really understood that phrase until I became a mother.
My current job description is Tooth Fairy, Nurse, Lifeguard, Maid, Santa's Helper, Dessert Coordinator, Master Chef, Personal Assistant, Sports Manager, Chauffer, Travel Agent/Vacation Planner
oh and I also hold a PAYING job as a Customer Relations Manager. That one is just for fun. "I go to work just to rest from my REAL JOB at home" hehehe
I love to read and belong to Bakersfield Chicana Book Club. The name is deceiving. It's not just women, there are men in the group. And it's not just Chicanos... it's people of all races who love to read and support Chicano Authors. I also founded the MAS BOOK CLUB, an online book club hosted at MAS Bakersfield online. If you want information about either book club just send me a message. OH.. and another thing.. I LOVE THIS MAN!
I also love to write and have been blogging/writing my crazy random thoughts here and on bakotopia.com. I've also written a few articles about my Tav Cam Adventures for Noveltown's official blog, Paperback Writer.
