Welcome to the NTU Pride MySpace profile! We are a student society at Nottingham Trent University and are here to provide a safe community of LGBT students and staff at the University.
We hold regular social events both in Nottingham and in other places around the country, run campaigns on a wide range of issues and offer support and advice for students throughout their time at NTU.
We run a social every Friday during term time out on the scene in Nottingham and also hold a monthly meeting in the University where you can get involved in how the Society is run. All socials and meetings are open to all so just come along and bring your friends!
The society also offers support and advice for LGBT students and staff with any issue from coming out to sexual health, and work together with the Students Union to offer free condoms, advice and information on each campus.
We are actively involved with local organisations including the GAI Health Project, and also Nottingham Pride with representatives on the organising committee helping run the biggest Pride event in the East Midlands.
Donation Not Discrimination
Our priority campaign this year is the NUS 'Donation Not Discrimination' campaign. We aim to raise awareness of the ban against gay and bisexual men on giving blood, and to encourage those who can to donate blood on behalf of those who can't.
We will be holding a day of action outside the Union on City Site and Clifton Campus to raise awareness of how much blood is potentially being wasted by the NBS during a time of national blood shortages and also holding a peaceful 'protest' when the blood service comes to the University to encourage people to give blood on behalf of a gay or bisexual man.
