About me:
Nikki Daglish started off as an indie fan back in the “Manchester” days. When people were dancing till the early hours in their Baggy Dungarees and their hooded tops before they were associated with ASBO’s.
It was back then that Nikki fell in love with the developing house scene and got the bug for Secret parties and illegal raves such as the c.r.e.a.m. warehouse parties.
She went to her first proper club night at the Que Club on a Splosh night, where deep house tunes pumped out all night and wondered how she ever survived without going before?
She the bagged a job dancing at the Institute (the Sanctuary for those not old enough to remember) back in 1994/5. Dancing next to the likes of Tomi Slav , DJ Duke and Mr C. She left the Institute as it started to get rough and encouraged her friend the late Wayne Goode (Marco Polo’s/Crunch) to start and night in their home town of Kidderminster.
They approached a club that wasn’t doing particularly well and expected them to say no. But anyone that knows Nikki will tell you that once she’s got an idea in her head – there’s no stopping her!They got the go–ahead and the set to organising the event, Wayne booking DJ’s, Nikki employing dancers, handing out flyers and spreading the word and that was how Tut –Tut was born.
Nikki danced at the Tut-Tut nights until the night was shut down by police and danced alongside the likes of Graham Gold, Brandon Block, Alex P, Sister Bliss, Sonique and the late, great, home grown Kidderminster God – Tony De Vit.
Nikki Said “ Wayne was an amazingly talented DJ, who sadly had his life cut short. He knew how to work a crowd and was a great inspiration to me. Kidderminster had never had such a successful club night on such a large scale and never had again"
Nikki left promoting for a good few years. It was July 06 when Nikki met Steve and Matt. Nikki and Steve instantly hit it off and began a relationship and that’s when she got involved with Avant Garde.
The lads were exceptionally talented. So that’s where they combined Nikki’s knowledge of promoting with Steve and Matt’s talent, leaving the lads to concentrate on the music and technical side of the nights and Nikki to promote and market the Brand and nights.
The Avant Garde brand has gone from strength to strength and is rapidly becoming one of the Midlands most established and fasted growing nights. Having secured gigs in Birmingham and London’s popular “Herbal” in Shoreditch and Ibiza in June Nikki is busy organising AG Tours round the UK’s Major cities for 2007.
With the signing of two new AG residents – Carl Durrant and Sam Homer, this girl shows no signs of rest as she confidently pushes the lad’s talent and the brand on into the future.
She is responisble for organising the Avant Garde Events, Verus nights and the Avant Garde Tour.
2007 is going to be a busy year with very little sleep for Nikki – No rest for the wicked eh??
