Now in its 15th year, North by Northeast is Canada's 1 showcase for the best new music, industry conference and music-related films.
For 5 days in June, NXNE fills the streets of Toronto with music. Over 500 local, national and international artists entertain 70,000 fans at 50 key stages. Each year, high-profile acts join emerging talents to keep NXNE essential and eclectic.

Meanwhile, 2,500 music-industry delegates gather in town for networking sessions, panels, and celebrity interviews. Past speakers include Police drummer Stewart Copeland and head Sex Pistol Johnny Rotten. At the same time, the NXNE Film Festival screens the year's most compelling music films-concert classics to indie docs from around the world.
NXNE also stages shows at Toronto's Pearson International Airport. And downtown, Union Station, Yonge-Dundas Square, Toronto Island, and a dozen parks around the city core also host NXNE shows. 2009 promises four nights of maximum outdoor exposure at the festival's anchor location in the heart of Toronto at Yonge-Dundas Square.
The eyes & ears of the world tune in to Toronto for NXNE. Correspondents from the BBC, Vanity Fair, the New York Times, and leading-edge print and online music mags join Canadian journalists around town and at prime festival showcases.
