i listen to a wide range of music, and have gone through lotsa phases. lotsa indie-metal and indie-rock. lotsa noisy experimental stuff. i also like a lot of afro beat and world beat stuff (especially ethiopiques collections) - it all depends on my mood i guess. i also listen to npr when i get a chance, and i especially like this american life. here's a random list of what's on my ipod: quicksand, drive like jehu, nick cave, hyatari, today is the day (willpower is an amazing record), rwake, keelhaul, kyuss, melvins, jesus lizard, brian eno, hammerhead, the birthday party, big black, pavement, fela kuti, budos band, tony allen,zeni geva, etc. etc...
Movies
i kinda go through whole series of director's films. i have seen a lot of film. a huge amount. lets just put it that way. my favorites off the top of my head are werner herzog, alejendro jodorosky, lars von trier, harmony korine, pedro almodovar, frederico fellini, akira kurasawa, sergio leone, wim wenders, martin scorsese, stanley kubrick, david lynch, ingmar bergman, david mamet, john sayles, coen brothers,marc caro/Jean-Pierre Jeunet., paul thomas anderson,errol morris etc., etc....
probably the films i've watched repeatedly more than any others would be glengarry glen ross, the thing(both versions!), breaking the waves, wings of desire, city of lost children, and taxi driver. my favorite actors tend to be kinda strange.. tracy walter, harry dean stanton, klaus kinski, crispin glover, william h. macy, udo kier, emily watson, etc..
Books
Harry Crews writes a mean book. as did hubert selby jr. and for that matter, so did flannery o'connor. i also like cormac mccarthy, upton sinclair, chuck palahniuk, charles bukowski, jim goad, jd salinger, franz kafka, anthony burgess, thomas pynchon, and a bunch more.
