About me:

New York City, the best place in the world or is the world compressed in to this city? It is my home that I have seen so many time reinvented. In the 1960s leaders who understood the true meaning of freedom worked hard to change the lives of millions of people and brought attention to inequality and injustices in a nation that does not practice what it preaches. From that experience seen in my childhood I learned compassion. In the 1970s I saw the prosperity of our nation squandered and my generations youth facing a future mortgaged and those who said that they understood the changes created the institutions to undermine those steps forward, from that experience I learned responsibility. In the 1980s I lived through a time of great openness of self expression and tested the limits of my own freedom with all my highs and all my self indulgence. Music for me was the universal language that brought us all together as a community and for the first time I understood acceptance of myself and became determined. In the 1990s, a time of technological changes and individual creations and a time where I adjusted to the bombardment of an information super highway through which I encountered many crossroads. This made me learn to stop and smell the roses and appreciate each day. This made me resilient and able to deal with life to face the challenges and solve problems. Here I am now in the 21st Century and just when everything n my life could not have been any more grounded, I got to feel the ground shake when I lived through a day that I can never forget and all of you who were there, you do realize how personal it was so please excuse my refusal to politicize that day because all that has done is remind me of my history and the injustices that were never completely solved and the insensitivity that now exists. I think I will take a detour to the scenic route now, care to walk along a highway with me? What ever happened to the Paradise Garage anyway? We need to travel. If we don't offer ourselves to the unknown, our senses dull, our world becomes small and we lose our sense of wonder. Our eyes don't lift to the horizon, our ears don't hear the sounds around us. Our experience is restricted, as we pass our days in a routine that is both comfortable and limiting. We wake up one day and we find that we have lost our dreams in order to protect our days.
