REMY MA CASE UPDATE- Makeda Barnes Joseph, the shooting victim in the Remy Ma assault case trial, took the stand against the Bronx-bred rapper on Friday (Mar. 14).

According to the Associated Press Joseph, 24, testified that Remy Ma jumped into her car and demanded that she empty out the contents of her purse so the Remy could look for the $3,000 that had come up missing during a party.

Joseph said she didn't take the money and refused to hand over the bag, resulting in a scuffle that lead to the rapper shooting her in the abdomen. While on the stand, Joseph described being shot, saying that she feared for her life and that she had to undergo three separate surgeries as a result of the shooting during her three-week hospital stay.

"I swung (my arms) down and that's when she shot me," Joseph testified. "I saw the flash. All the smoke was in my face, and I sucked it in. It felt like a burning sensation, coming up."
She also said that a friend rushed to help her as the blood spread in an irregular red pattern over her white dress. She says that she told Krystal Bolton, "The bullet is moving up. It's moving to my heart. Tell my mommy I love her."
Bolton took the stand herself earlier last week, saying that she was in a parked car close to the shooting last July and that Joseph pleaded with her for her life, saying "don't let me die."

Prosecutors allege that Remy jumped into her SUV and fled the scene after the shooting, slamming into a parked car a few blocks away. They claim that she then abandoned her SUV and made her way to a friend's apartment in Harlem.
While the prosecution is attempting to paint the picture as a deliberate shooting, Remy's lawyer, Ivan Fisher, is stern in his position that suggested the incident was an accident during the struggle over the purse. That defense is in direct opposition to the testimony given by witness Oluwole Ajudun, who testified on March 11 that he saw Remy cock back a silver gun before hopping into the car with Joseph.

Fisher also noted that Joseph had withdrawn a $20 million civil lawsuit she had filed against Remy Ma, but could refile it later, suggesting she was waiting to see if the criminal trial ended in her favor.
The trial is set to resume today in Manhattan's state Supreme Court for first-degree assault and other charges related to the shooting. She faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted.

JUELZ SANTANA ARRESTED- Juelz Santana is scheduled to appear in New Jersey Municipal Court today (Mar. 12) after being arrested last week when police pulled him over and discovered hollow-point bullets and marijuana in his car.

New York's Daily News has reported that Santana, whose real name is LaRon James, was pulled over in his Bentley near the entrance of his home in Teaneck's gated Glenpointe community.

"This is bullsh*t," the Dipset rapper yelled after being pulled over, according to officer John Abraham.
As he approached the vehicle Abraham reportedly smelled marijuana, and later spied a green leafy substance on the car's center console in addition to Dutch Master and White Owl cigars and marijuana roaches.

Police also discovered 29 hollow-point bullets wrapped in a sock and $19,500 rolled in small bundles that were stashed in a plastic bag full of hundreds of Jolly Rancher candies. A marijuana-laced, hand-rolled cigar was also discovered inside Santana's shoe.

Officers also recovered a sandwich bag stuffed with marijuana on the backseat of their cruiser, where Juelz sat after being arrested.

Juelz has not released an album since 2005's What The Game's Been Missing. In a February interview with Hot 97 personality Angie Martinez Santana revealed that Dipset leader Cam'ron was hindering his work at Def Jam.

"Me and Cam gotta work some things out, bottom line," Santana said. "I came in the game when I was young right, so it's no reason for me - to have accomplished and did as much as I did - to be getting treated the same way as I was treated when I just came in."

In addition to current work on an upcoming album, Juelz also has a joint album with Lil' Wayne in the works, titled I Can't Feel My Face. Release dates have not been announced for either project.

UPDATE ON T.I.'S ASSISTANTS MURDER- Details surrounding the murder of T.I.'s personal assistant and friend, Philant Johnson, have recently been revealed.
As NYCmixCD previously reported, Philant Johnson was killed on a Cincinnati highway in a hail of bullets on May 2, 2006 after an altercation broke out between Tip, members of his Grand Hustle label and another group of patrons at Cincinnati's Club Ritz.

Now, according to Atlanta radio station, V103, sources claim that authorities know who the triggerman is and have also learned the motive behind the crime through another unrelated arrest.

During "The Ryan Cameron Show," the radio host reported that the motive for the shooting may be over a promoter mistakenly thinking he had T.I. booked for an after party. The promoter supposedly found out that he had been duped by a person who said they could secure an appearance from the rapper. When they found out that T.I. was at another party he went to the location with several other men and waited for T.I. to leave the club.

The men allegedly used a .25 caliber pistol and a 9 mm handgun in the attack on T.I. and members of Grand Hustle, including Johnson. Reportedly one of the assailants was also hit, in apparent exchanged gunfire. He escaped though, and averted detection by being treated for his wound across state lines.

Cameron went on to report that authorities are currently holding two suspects in custody and a warrant will be served on the shooter later this week.

REMY MA TRIAL UPDATE- While Remy Ma's lawyer argued that the shooting she's charged with was an accident, a witness testified yesterday (Mar. 11) that he saw Remy with a gun.
Makeda Barnes-Joseph was shot last July outside in New York City after attending a party that Rem had also attended. The incident was allegedly sparked when Remy discovered $2,000 missing from her purse and accused the victim of stealing the money.

As proceedings began yesterday, Rem's defense attorney Ivan Fisher said the shooting wasn't intentional and that the gun had gone off during a struggle for the fire arm between his client and Barnes-Joseph.

But a student took the stand later and said that's not what he saw. Oluwole Ajudun, 21, testified that early on July 14, 2007, after a party in Greenwich Village, he saw Remy get out of her Cadillac Escalade with a "silver chrome" gun. "I saw her cock it back and jump in Makeda's car," he said. Just moments later, he heard a pop and saw Remy leave Barnes-Joseph's car. Another witness, Crystal Ricks, testified that she saw Remy get in the car, she heard a pop and she saw Remy get out of the car, but Ricks never saw a gun.
Free on $250,000 bail, Remy could face up to 25 years in prison if convicted.

REMY MA TRIAL STARTS- Bronx rapper Remy Ma was in court yesterday, facing charges that she shot and almost killed a former friend over allegedly stolen cash.
As NYCmixCD previously reported, Makeda Barnes-Joseph was shot last July outside a New York club after attending a mutual friend's party. The incident was allegedly sparked when Remy discovered $2,000 missing from her purse and accused the victim of stealing the money.

Rem's lawyer Ivan Fisher depicted the shooting as a "tragic accident" as the trial began in Manhattan's state Supreme Court, according to the Associated Press. Fisher said the rapper (born Remy Smith) and Barnes-Joseph struggled over the gun and it went off accidentally, critically injuring Barnes-Joseph.
This is the first time Remy's version of events has been made public. Up to this point, she hadn't even admitted to doing the shooting.

The prosecution paints a different picture.
Attorney for Barnes-Joesph, Jason Berland, said an angry Remy accused the shooting victim of stealing $2,000 from her purse, and shot her twice in the abdomen with a .45 caliber gun. He claims Remy then fled the scene in a Cadillac Escalade and rammed into a parked car up the street.

Berland said Remy then ditched the SUV and hid out at a friend's house. She did not call the police or summon medical help.
But Fisher said Barnes-Joseph's own story changed when she filed a $20 million lawsuit against Remy. That suit has since been withdrawn.

The prosecution will have to make its case without the DNA evidence it had been banking on.
After scouring the victim's car for evidence pointing to Remy in the shooting, nothing useful was found, according to Fisher.

"They were looking in the victim's car for evidence of blood. Now I ask you, since my client wasn't shot and the victim was, whose blood do you think it was? As long as the prosecution keeps thinking like this, we might win this case," Fisher said.
If convicted Remy could face as much as 25 years in prison.

POLO DA DON ROBBED- After reports of hit-making producer Polow Da Don being robbed at gunpoint last night hit the net, the Atlanta-based producer released a press release about the story. Early reports say masked gunmen broke in on a recording session and forced him and a group of men alongside him to the floor. It's been speculated that Polow and the other Zone 4 affiliates in the studio were robbed of money and jewelry but no one was hurt. Polow released a statement this afternoon calling his attackers weak and saying their attempt failed.

"They thought they came to rob me, but I have heart and I have God shawty ...These crack head ass n*ggaz I guess called themselves robbing me, but we robbed them. I wasn't scared I was mad," Polow said via his Blackberry. "I was likes 'these dumb ass, weak ass n*ggas.' n*ggas don't get it. You gone have to shoot me because until then, I don't believe you. I am a man and nine times out of 10, a n*gga calling himself a robba, a thug or a gangsta is a cover up for being too weak (whether it be physically, spiritually or mentally) to be a man. It's hard to learn how to be a man. Luckily, my teacher stuck with me ... Thanks Dad, I love you! Kids, do you know where your father is right now?"

The producer is still in good spirits and doesn't plan on letting last night's incident get in the way of his success. FAT JOE'S SIDE TO THE FIGHT WITH PAPOOSE- Rappers Fat Joe and Papoose have both offered their recollections of a recent altercation that allegedly took place between them. But the two stories couldn't sound more different.

As NYCmixCD previously reported, the alleged fight took place in a hotel where several artists were being held for a concert in town.
Contrary to Papoose's claims, Joe says that Cassidy never invited him to his hotel. Joey said instead that he went looking for Pap when he heard they were staying at the same hotel.

"I went and I knocked on every door. 101, 102, 103, 104, 105, 106 ...," Joey told San Francisco radio show KMEL.
According to Joe, he walked into the room and addressed Pap. "Do we have a problem," Joe asked? "All I wanted him to say was he don't have a problem with me, but instead Pap said, 'Why? You want it to be a problem?'" In a prior interview with KMEL Pap claims he swung on Joe. "I put work in on the middle of that chin," Pap said yesterday. Then according to him, seven or eight of Joey's bodyguards came at him.
Joey, on the other hand, told the radio station that they each had four guys with them, it was an even-numbered fight and Pap never even swung.
"We pounded him out," Joe claimed. "We pounded his DJ out. His DJ went to the hospital. His right hand man, his lip looked like a 18 wheeler tire. He ain't even swing back. He's balled up in the corner. I'm thinkin' he learned his lesson but I'm noticing now, you gotta really comatose these dudes for them to really learn."

Joe said that after the fight, Pap called him over and tried to clear things up. "[He said] 'Yo, I don't want no problem I been a fan since 'Flow Joe.'" Joey mimicked Pap. Joe said the rapper lost his watch during the scuffle and asked for it back.
"How gangster is it that right after you give him the beats, you talk to him calmly for 20 minutes and explain to him why you gave him the beats," Joe said.
And he gave him a warning before he was done. "Don't be tellin' people no lies that I was mobbed up," Joe said. "We had the same amount of people. I had 4 dudes. He had 4 dudes. They just got they ass whooped." The two did peace things up before they parted, though.
"He just wanted to get outta there safe," Joe said. "He gave me a hug and everything." Joe said the only reason he's coming out with his side is because Pap started talking on the net, telling the story wrong.

"Sooner or later the truth is gonna come to light," Joe said. "Gucci Mane, Cassidy and Yo Gotti were all there."
"Nobody wants to hear [Papoose], he's wack," Joey added. "But now the country knows him because he fought Fat Joe."

PAPOOSE BEEFING WITH MAX B & FAT JOE-

On Thursday February 28, 2008 Rapper 50 Cent was hosting New York City Radio and had Invited several rappers to join him on the show including Max B, Papoose and Remy Ma. While 50 Cent was interviewing Max B, Papoose walked into the studio. When Max B went to say whats up to him and give him a pound thats when Papoose told him "put your hand away, what's up with that slick shit you was saying about Kay Slay on the internet?" Before Max B could reply, Papoose went to approach him, but fortunately 50 Cent was able to get in the middle of the two rappers and seperate them.

This all started when Max B dissed D.J. Kay Slay and Jim Jones on an internet video. Max B was quoted ...."Slay can suck my dick".

On Friday Feb 29 in North Corolina Papoose,Cassidy,Fat Joe,Gucci Mane,Yo Gotti,and Fabolous were booked to perform at The Criquet Arena. Before the show could go on, the Main Event happened earlier at The Holiday Inn Hotel in North Carolina, where the rappers had been staying at .Sources from Cassidy's crew tell us that Cassidy had asked Papoose to come to his room so they could talk. Papoose eventually came to his room and while the two rappers were talking, all of the sudden Fat Joe and 9 Members of his Entourage storm right into Cassidy's room. Fat Joe suddenly starts yelling at Papoose, "You Got A Problem With Me?" and Papoose replied, "No, do you have a problem?" When Fat Joe responds " yeah, I got a problem with you," thats when Papoose swung at Fat Joe, punching him in the face twice. Before you knew it all hell broke loose. Sources tell us that Fat Joe and his crew rushed the rapper and Hotel security had to seperate the fight before Law Enforcement could get to the Hotel. Sources tells us that they heard Papoose yelling at Joe, "Come on Bitch ass nigga lets take this shit outside give me a fair one."

REMY MA CASE SET FOR TRIAL- The assault trial for rapper Remy Ma may finally get underway, with jury selection scheduled to begin next week.

Remy is facing assault and related charges for allegedly shooting a woman in New York City last summer.

Remy was later charged with witness intimidating and gang assault and hit with an $80 million lawsuit by the alleged shooting victim.

Her trail has been delayed several times due to her lawyer, Ivan Fisher, being ill. The rapper is currently free on $250,000 bail, and faces up to 25 years behind bars if convicted.

JUVENILE'S DAUGHTER MURDERED- Georgia authorities have arrested and charged a high school student who they suspect shot and killed the daughter of New Orleans rapper and former Cash Money recording artist Juvenile.

Anthony Tyrone Terrell, Jr. has been charged with allegedly killing his mother, Gwinnett County Sheriff's Deputy Joy Deleston, 39, and her two daughters Micaiah, 11, and Jelani, 4 - who along with being Terrell's sister is also Juvenile's daughter. The Central Gwinnett High School sophomore has been booked on three counts of murder and three counts of aggravated assault and is being held in the DeKalb County Jail.

Juvenile (born Terius Gray) was arrested back in 2003 for abandoning Jelani. Reportedly a DNA test determined he was her father.

LUDACRIS & DTP TO LEAVE DEJ JAM- When the label, DTP, brought all their R&B artists to perform for LA Reid, along with a bunch of industry heads in NYC earlier this week, the feedback was less then thrilling. The performances were so lacking that LA told Luda that he can take his acts and “hit the road”.

As of right now Bobby Valentino, Shareefa, and Stephan Jones, AKA Mr. Ordinary have all been dropped. Sources close to Bobby claim that the artist plans ..ping his next untitled CD on iTunes. No word yet on where Shareefa, and Steph Jones will end up.

T.I. OFFERED 15 YEAR SENTENCE DEAL- The Feds have made their offer to Clifford Joseph Harris, Jr aka T.I. aka T.I.P. They are saying prosecutors offered him a 15-year plea. If T.I. accepts deal, he will have to do at least 13 years of sentence. Possessing a silencer carries at 10-year bid. Then there are the priors of the rapper. If T.I. doesn't accept plea deal, he could be facing 25 years behind bars.
