I am an 19th Century Americanist and an English Romantic Poetry FREAK! Books, Words, Passion.......Aye!!!! Too many to list but I'll start you off with the most groundbreaking in my life: To begin, Melville's Moby Dick........ and also The Confidence Man, Melville's short stories are all worth reading...as are Poe's...not to mention my very first copy of Keat's Eve of St.Agnes....any Keats is a sensual paradise....please go read him now if you haven't already......see also Shelley's Adonais...a tribute to our beloved Keats..... Hawthorne's Twice-Told Tales are very neccesary, so is Anything by Petrarch, Poe, and all the prominent American renaissance writers and English romantic poets, Oh and GOETHE!!!! I just finished The Sorrows of Young Werther by him....grab a kleenex! Marlowe's Hero and Lyander, Spencer's Faerie Queene (compare with Milton's Paradise Lost!) , Shakespeare's Venus and Adonis, and my favorite sonnet series again and again.....Sir Sidney's Astrophel and Stella. www.luminarium.org rules!

About me:

I AM NYC BASED GOTHIC FUSION BELLYDANCER FOR OVER 8 YEARS...

I have a deep love affair with New Orleans, such that I'm there every few months... I have an M.A. in English Literature and my specialities are mid to late 19th Century Americanism and 19th Century Romanticism. I teach Gothic fusion Bellydance Classes in NYC, the first to do so in this wild old town! The classes are based on a Gothic Bellydance technique I created entitled "THE SERPENTINE METHOD"© I am the creator and director of THE MYSTICAL HIPS TRIBE, a version of the old and new genres of Bellydance fused with the darkest of theatrical, musical, and emotional elements. I have lived and loved across the continents... At present, my life is devoted to Gothic Fusion Bellydance, teaching and performing, breaking down centuries of tradition and rebuilding a darker foundation for future fusion Bellydancers. I am in love with a bunch of fabulous old dead folks: John Keats, William Blake, Percey B. Shelley, John Milton, F. Petrarch, Thomas Wyatt, Sir Sidney and Surrey, Poe and Melville, Gaspara Stampa, Veronica Franco, Anais Nin and the muse of my art THEDA BARA.

I live for love, dance, sweet red wine, fine arts and the ancient craft. I am a siren, a muse, a Renaissance woman. I am Jen of all trades really...

The Symptoms Of Inner Peace by Saskia Davis

Be on the lookout for symptoms of Inner Peace. The hearts of a great many have already been exposed to Inner Peace, and it is possible that people everywhere could come down with it in epidemic proportions. This could pose a serious threat to what has, up to now, been a fairly stable condition of conflict in the world.

Some signs and symptoms of inner peace:

A tendency to think and act spontaneously rather than on fears based on past experiences.
An unmistakable ability to enjoy each moment.
A loss of interest in judging other people.
A loss of interest in interpreting the actions of others.
A loss of interest in conflict.

How many times do we say something that we immediately realized was not the right thing to say?
How many times do we look back on an event and think, if only I had....
How many times do we do something that we wish hadn't done?

You can't change what has been said.
You can't change a past event.
You can't change what has been done.

Do you call it regret, sorrow, repentance?
Do you think about what might have been?
Do you relive an event the way it should have been?

Forget about regret, and focus.
Focus on today, not on the past.
Focus on what you can do, not what you didn't do.
