NYIA - More Than You Expect FETO Records 2007 PREMIERE: 29.11.2007
(...) Nyia’s “Morning’s Copper,” which arguably features some of the best jibbering heard in metal since “Twist,” by you-know-who. DECIBEL 01/2008
One of the wonderful things about life are surprises and NYIA are full of them. /.../ NYIA have demonstrated the beauty of imagination when it is left unfettered. TERRORIZER 01/2008
(...) No one does it as Nyia does. Even if comparisons to other “breakers” of rock/metal music cross the mind, Nyia acts in absolutely innovative way. Big hand to Wojciech Szyma--ski, who is the source of inspirations, for his brilliant display of drumming. making Nyia’s rhythmic work incomparable to anything. (...) There is definitely… more than I had expected. METAL HAMMER PL 12/2007
Rating: 5!/5
(...) This is a band that I guarentee we'll be keeping an eye on (...). Beyond recommended, one of the finest avant-grind releases of the year. And it comes in an equally awesome package.
CRUCIAL BLAST 12/2007
(...) the material is all killer and no filler. Fans of brutal, forward thinking grind should eat this up with a spoon.
HELLRIDE MUSIC 01/2008
NYIA - Head Held High Candlelight Records 2004
(...) the band manages to play some of the most spastic, chaotic music using some of the world’s most dissonant chords, while the rhythm section is an exercise (...)

Rating: 8/10
(...) For the next 24 minutes it's best not to blink.....breathe....hell, don't even think! Just focus on the music! Nyia is about to pummel your senses with their debut (...)
indepthzine.com
(...)This is just an assault on the senses from all directions. The overall sound reminds me of a mix of The Dillinger Escape Plan meets Origin. (...)
deadtide.com
(...) I am really confused with this release... (...) All I get to hear is noise, noise and some more noise. So, all in all, if you are into extreme,(...)and noisy music, then that's your stuff.(...)
behind_the_veil2001
(...) 24 minutes or nerve rattling and mind destroying metal that I can only describe as strung-out, noisecore-infused death metal, maybe something like an unholy union of Vader and Converge(...).
live4metal.com
If Sonic Youth are responsible for deconstruction of traditional approach to rock music and building new, distorted quality from its debris, then NYIA becomes the Sonic of metal scene (...) together with ’Within Divida’ by The End, ‘Miss Machine’ by Dillinger Escape Plan and Antigama's ‘Discomfort’, it..s an album reaching the pantheon of vanguard death/noise/grind/ jazz/rock. An absolute must-have...
Metal Hammer (PL)

NYIA - Inaccesible Things - Live at Ucho, Gdynia 10.02.2008 (benefit show for DECAPITATED):
NYIA was believed to be an unidentified pagan demon of death, a god of the
underground and a guard of souls leaving human bodies.
NYIA was formed in 1999 in Olsztyn, Poland by former members of Vader, Kobong
and Prophecy. The superb and individualistic play of the drummer, Wojtek
Szymanski, experiments with heavy sounds and the most dissonant chords are
boasting some of the most intense and diverse slices of blasting avante garde
grindcore fusion. The past and current NYIA`s line-ups included musicians
from: Vader, Kobong, Neuma, Yattering, Third Degree, Prophecy, SAMO,
Deadbambi.
The band concerns in its ranks poet and painter Wojtek Szymanski (who wrotes
all the lyrics and painted the picture used on the cover), producer and sound
engineer Szymon Czech (known also from his work with Antigama, Vesania,
Yattering, Dies Irae, Third Degree and many others), young and talented
vocalist Jakub Leonowicz, bassist Maciej Banaszewski and designer,
photographer and director Bartek Rogalewicz (who designed the band`s artworks
and shot and directed music videos), who joined NYIA after recording "More
Than You Expect".
The second album is a result of three years of intense works and experiments
and will be published in october 2007 by Napalm Death`s Shane Embury FETO
Records. In october and november 2007 NYIA will co-headline tour with ANTIGAMA (Relapse). In october 2007 NYIA released split CD with ANTIGAMA with brand new tracks by Selfmadegod Records. NYIA is also planning to shot 2 music
videos to promote "More Than You Expect" album.
